(aw?) Slowly getting there.

Just scheduled my pre-TTC appt w/ my OB. This is the first progress we've made towards actually TTC since I stopped taking BC two years ago.

I'm going to ask about my cycles getting irregular again. I'm actually kind of nervous. What's interesting (?) is that my OB specializes in infertility, and last year at my first appt, he seemed pretty knowledgeable and open minded about things (as in he didn't look at me like I had three heads when I talked about charting, which is what my last OB did...). Here's to hoping he can help explain why my cycles went from 28-30 days to now being on CD45 with no signs of O.

I've read so many of these posts, but realize now I haven't retained much so I'm sorry for the newbie question. Should I ask anything now, or are the questions just for if we have a hard time getting PG? I also have my yearly with my regular Dr soon. Are TTC questions just for my OB or would it be good to ask her anything? She'll be going over basic blood work I'm having before the appt.

TIA!

  • Yeah I would just want to ask about the change in your cycle and hopefully that can be addressed with the basic blood work you've had. Otherwise ask if there is additional bloodwork you need to have.
Then ask how long you should 'try' before coming back for help. It might be 1 cycle if you're not o'ing, it might be 6 months-1 year.

edit- I just noticed the "pre-TTC" part.

I don't have anything to add outside of the cycle length.

  • Same as @ecinereb
Ask about the long cycles and how soon your OB would want you to come in after starting.  Since you've been charting, I would also bring in the last 6 months worth of charts.  They may want to put them on file for future use.
Each Dr is different, but mine got me started with blood work and an IF packet of information from my first appointment because I had 6 months of no ovulation. Then let me know that we can get started with things as soon as H and I were ready.

  • @brij2006 - sorry, I just saw this! Thanks for the input, I'll make sure to bring my charts, though I did stop charting a few months ago (not TTC, and I got lazy...) but I have a few from when my cycles were long and when they were 28-30 days for comparison.
