  • I got my crib from IKEA. I chose it because it was very inexpensive (~$100), well-built for the cost, simple and convertible (all the way to toddler bed). It's also very lightweight and easy to put together. It seems like it will be perfect for LO.

I also want to know if there are speficic features that are important and why.

I bought the book "Baby Bargains" April 2013 edition. It really goes over things like safety features, quality, durability, etc. it rates manufacturers as well as individual cribs and gives recommendations. I *highly* recommend it! There is *so* much to think about when it comes to baby gear (car seats, high chairs, swings, mattresses, cribs, portable cribs, furniture, etc). It is pretty much the "consumer reports" of baby stuff. I used it to pick out everything.

Basically, I had my heart set on a white crib (always have). I read Baby Bargains and found the manufacturers they recommend and looked at all the cribs. This was really the *only* crib I wanted. I wanted something gender neutral, not too fussy and not too plain and that would last if we decide to have another LO.

  • We got ours at babies r us. It's the Asheville by Babi Italia. We basically just chose the one we liked the look of best... But I did want something that was real wood and that you couldn't see the bolts on the sides (so it looks like a nice, solid piece of furniture).

  • Have you looked at cribs? We bought the Graco Lauren Crib in Espresso. It got high ratings, it's made from solid wood, and it was inexpensive.

Have you bought a crib? Yup!

Where did you buy it from? Walmart had the best price on the crib and matching changing table - $200 for both

Do you have a PIP? I am entirely way too lazy to PIP. :P

Same crib in the same color and we're using it for the first time tonight. We also got the crib through Wal-Mart during a sale.

  • We bought our crib on the air force base. It was a brand I had read about in Baby Bargains and it was on clearance for cheap. It was a europa baby brand crib.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
  • I have the same crib as cinderin. I did want one with a metal mesh bottom and this one is particle board. Also I don't care for the look as much but I now wish I would have gotten one with a solid back. Stuff was falling behind the crib and there is an outlet that we had to move the crib away from.

    Have you bought a crib?
    Yes.

Where did you buy it from?
BRU. They had a sale for 20% off.

    What crib did you buy?

Same as cinderin, except not the same color.

    Do you have a PIP?
    No.

I also used Baby Bargains to help make my decision. We had an issue while assembling the crib and Baby Cache's customer service was great.

I wanted something that looked nice and would be sturdy enough to last through 3 kids. Although now we are thinking only 2, lol.

It does convert to a toddler bed and a twin later (I think) but we aren't going to do that, since LO 2 needs somewhere to sleep and DS is going to move to a big boy bed we already have when he's ready.
