Anybody getting the new 5c or s?
Will you or have you in the past, sell or trade your old one?

I'm eligible for an upgrade but honestly don't really feel like I need to. But the more I think about it, it seems beneficial to sell my 4s and upgrade rather than not.

I just got an email from Verizon offering $200 for my 4s. Theoretically that will be the price of the 5s. So I would only have to pay tax/activation fee. Vs if I wait till my phone dies or the next phone comes out, mine will be worth less or possibly nothing and I'll have to pay.

So even though I really wasn't needing to upgrade it seems to be a cheaper move to do it now rather than wait.

Just curious what others have done. This is my first good phone that I could actually sell/trade so this is new for me!

  • Oh and I know I could get more money to sell on ebay but not interested in that. It looks like with Verizon I have 30 days to make sure my phone is into them. So I could submit now and wait till I have the new 5s.

Of course assuming I can even get one! Sounds like they anticipate low supply.

  • Like Emmy, I also only have a 4 and it was free.  So I don't think anyone is lining up to buy it.  Plus I just got it in July.

I guess if it's a wash and you can basically get the new one for free, why not?

When I was looking online there was stuff about the 4 too. It's just not paying as much, but mine isn't worth as much as a 5 obviously either.

    Here's a nice chart

  • DH has a 5 for personal use and a 4 for work. I have a 4s. I have zero desire to upgrade and DH always wants the latest. Plus, after a certain point they will stop supporting the upgrades for the 4 and he can't have a non-upgradable phone for work. So he'll get one of the new 5's for personal use and downgrade his "old" 5 for work. I will keep my 4s for as long as Apple supports it or until it dies, whichever is first.

  • This summer, AT&T sent me a letter saying they would pay me $200 for my 4s and I could upgrade to a 5 for $200. I did, it cost me $38. I had issues with my 4s from day one so it was worth it.

But also, I want a Marc Jacobs case that was only available for the 5 so that is really why I did it. ;)
