Vent Coworker found puppy and is going to keep it
Yesterday Coworker found a puppy on his lunch break. Everybody in the office was telling him to go to the shelter or a vet to see if the puppy is chipped. Today coworker said he does not want to turn the dog over to the animal shelter. Instead he is going to put up signs around the neighborhood and if nobody claims him he is going to keep the puppy. I feel so bad for the puppy's owners who are looking for her.
Re: Vent Coworker found puppy and is going to keep it
I am all for the "give it 30 days" school of thought. Put up signs, see if the dog is chipped. contact vets and even local shelters -- maybe the dog was recently adopted from the shelter -- and if nobody comes forward after 30 days, he can think about keeping the dog.
If nobody claims the dog by then, likely the dog has been abandoned. Happening more and more. Hoping the situation is resolved with satisfaction to all involved.
1-The dog is not chipped
2-Has a chip but it is not registered to any owner or it comes up as a "Dud"
3-The name of the owner is registered to the chip, in which case he will call the owner and say the dog is there.
I think he wants to keep the dog no matter what ownership the doggus has got.
He can find many great dogs at shelters; all of them need homes.
And I hate people who think of pets as disposable. Sure, it was common years ago --- you didn't want the dog and you gave the dog away to a neighbor or friend, etc -- but it's a no no now.
