So now I'm annoyed - FB blindside (PR not me)

I posted last week about a good friend being pregnant. Overall she had been pretty respectful up until now. She explicitly told me that she would warn me before posting on FB (which I assumed would happen around 12 weeks), b/c she knows how upset FB posts can make me.

Well, this morning I was blindsided with the picture of a pee stick with "guess what?! We had a great honeymoon!" no warning whatsoever. Of course there was a slew of stupid comments too like "wow that was quick!" and "bam [husband's name] way to get 'er done!"

I am livid. I'm not mad at her for being pregnant, but I'm angry that she didn't follow through with her word. I did NOT need to see that. Also, I am giving the side-eye as she is only 6 weeks along and hasn't had an u/s or even a blood test. Maybe that's just me being jaded though.

I was really trying to be optimistic about the future of this friendship, but this is making it hard. My therapist said I should be honest with her about how I feel, but I'm not sure what/if to say something about this.

  • I don't understand why people announce so early, especially without seeing a doctor.

I'm sorry. That sucks and I would be hurt too.

  • That sucks!  I'm so sorry.  That is a really gross way to announce.  Everyone knows that people have sex on their honeymoon, I wouldn't want to be told that explicitly on a fb post.  I think your therapist is right though, with you being honest with her.  She broke your trust.

  • She has lost her damn mind apparently.  I am sorry she didn't tell you so you could chose to hide.

That was really shitty of her to tell you she'd warn you and then post it anyway. Also, who the fuck wants to see a pee stick on fb?!?

I would let her know that it really bothered you and if she's going to continue to AW herself throughout pregnancy (which I'm thinking from the pee stick she's that type of person), you may need to just hide her and reevaluate how much communication you have with her moving forward. It sucks, but you need to do what's best for you. ((hugs))

  • I'm so sorry. I've had friends do that to me too and it really hurts. I hate confrontation so I'd have a hard time talking to her about my feelings but if you really want to continue a good friendship I think it's important to talk to her. Hopefully she will understand how you felt.

  • I'm sorry that she didn't keep her word.  I agree with what others have said, I think being upfront with her about it will be the best thing to do for both you and your friendship.
