1. Ex and the ER bill - we FINALLY got the billing to mail us the bill in July. I scanned it so we had a copy and mailed the original to the ex. Then H got a bill saying pay in 10 days or it's going to collections in August. Ex said she just made a payment, but I've been telling H to call and check. Did he, no, so Monday we got a bill from collections. Just so happens ex was asking for the account numbers etc before I came home with the mail... she admitted she lied about paying but didn't want H to be mad. Ummmm he's mad you lied and it went to collections!!! Lucky they gave us 30 days to pay before it went on his credit. We paid that night and made an agreement with ex that we will take $50/mon out of child support until it's paid back. I want to bang both H and his ex's heads together!
2. Stepdaughter and reading - I sent flashcards in July, but no word about getting them done. I just ordered her another book, and will make flashcards for it, and work with her next weekend when we go down... Hoping it'll get her excited about reading! I hope to get her to read the book, and send it home with her to show her mom. Maybe that'll get HER excited to help. Doubt it.
3. Parents are doing really good. Dad has stepped up about his health, and my mom has been walking!!! She hasn't been able to do that in MONTHS! I'm so happy! now just getting them to keep it up! Dad still has some tests, colonscopy and a sleep study. I'd be down right surprised if he didn't have sleep apnea, we've all heard him stop breathing more multiple occasions.
Re: Updates
Ok what is the deal with men not calling any companies ever?! I have to call everything for Josh, including the pizza guy. I told him to order a pizza once while I was in the shower. I got out of the shower and he was standing there holding the pizza menu, his phone and wallet with a "deer in the headlights" look on his face. It's amazing how helpless the male gender is when it comes to the telephone!
I'm happy to hear you were able to fix all of this without hurting anyone's credit. What a pain in the butt though! Hopefully this won't happen in the future.
Glad to hear your parents are doing better. Keep us posted on everything!
I am happy to hear that your parents are doing better.
As for DH, I would be so upset at him for not keeping up on whether the ex was paying the bill or not. It sucks that he has to do it but its better than having it on your credit report.
I hope that your step daughter is progressing with her reading. You are such a great step mom.
The ER bill thing happen this time last year. SAME THING, she took their son to the ER and the bills came back on H. So I really don't know why H thought this would be different. He kept asking if I was mad/upset. I'm like no, I knew this would happen. After being married to her for 7 years, I would think he would know too.
@Seipel12 - I seriously LOL'd at your rant. I know!!!!!!! I call for everything! I called the ER billing 3 times before I said NO MORE, it's your issues! I ended up calling the collectors to make the payment. He said "I'm better at that". What? Saying my CC numbers? I hate when they ask who I am, becaue the name on the crap is He's. I'm like "I'm the wife", then it's... "no not the mother, the stepmother... can you still talk to me?"
@mana8503 OMG, Josh says that I'm better at it too! I'm so happy I'm not alone in this nonsense!
@frank139@msu.edu Lol, you are not alone, mine is the same way! But I have the added problem of being a foot shorter than him, so I can never find anything. He puts everything on the top shelf. It's ridiculous.
About your step daughter and reading, it's terrible that you were able to get her excited about reading and then ex didn't continue working with her. It's not that hard to read to your child every day and then ask her questions based on what you read and make sure she can read words. I am sure your step daughter will be very excited to get a new book when she sees you next weekend!
I am happy that both of your parents are improving. Small changes make a big difference over time! I hope they both continue to improve.
