Re: CPW: Can you drive a stick

  • I used to only drive standards.  I have an automatic right now though.  My mom made me learn and I hated that she made me at the time.  Now I am glad I know how!

T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

The only vehicle we own that is an automatic, is mine. H's car and the show car are both manuals.

My dad would also be very mad if I didn't know how to drive a stick.  I think I only had my permit when I learned, but we had a lot of farm trucks that were manuals.

  • No. I always wanted to learn but never had a car to learn on. My dad always drove standards and I still remember him trying to teach my mom to drive one. That was a disaster because he wasn't patient enough to teach her. So they eventually got an automatic truck so that my mom could drive his vehicle if need be. DH had a standard for a while but it was a piece of crap. He tried to teach me and I was able to get it going a little bit but still stalled it quite a bit.

  • I have never had a desire to learn how to drive a stick.  I get motion sick just riding with someone if they drive a stick so it just doesn't appeal to me.

  • I learned how to drive a stick on farm trucks and my car right now is a stick, too.

  • I picked the sexual references one, but nope. No idea how to drive stick!
  • My parents both had manual transmissions, so I had to learn on one. I loved it, and until I bought my current car, I refused to buy anything else. My current car is the first one that DH and I bought together, and he can't drive stick, so we had to get automatic. Boo. Sad poppies. I miss it.

~My Bitter Bitches Be the Best~

  • I have no idea why, but I think men who drive sticks are sexy.  I also think it's really badass when a girl can drive one.  I learned when I was 17, but never drove one after that, so I supposed I could if there was an emergency and I absolutely had to, but it wouldn't be pretty.
