WWGPM do?

So one of DH's aunts contacted me asking if I wanted some of her baby gear (she has a 6 yo and a 2.5 yo). She offered a breast pump (which I don't need since my insurance fully covers a medela pisa), a jogging stroller, and a baby carrier made mainly for hiking.

The problem is that I don't really want them. I've done a lot of research and decided on a city mini gt and an ergo carrier (and now kind of have my heart set on them). I just don't know how to say no without hurting her feelings.

What should I say? Should I just take the items and not really use them (though my choices are on my registry and she is definitely invited to the shower, so she would probably figure it out)? I don't want to seem ungrateful because it's so nice of her and I really do appreciate the offer. Ugh. I feel like I'm acting spoiled and mean.

...hello out there!

Re: WWGPM do?

  • you can't jog with the stroller you've chosen (i don't think?). i would just take the items to keep on hand in case you find they come in handy. you never know. some things you find out you don't end up liking as much as you thought you would or the baby doesn't like and you have to try a few different things.

I agree, you never know what you might end up wanting. I have a city mini, but since I've recently started jogging to get in shape I would love a jogging stroller. Also I have a Boba3G baby carrier, but I do a lot of hiking and in the summer a hiking style baby carrier seems like it would be really nice.  I would probably take them and ask her what you would like to do with the items if you don't end up using them after all.

  • Thanks girls! I should just take them. @madeline10L, that's a great idea too. I'm sure my MIL would love to have them at her house if we don't end up using them.

  • I was also going to suggest taking them to leave at your parents or ILs house.  I'd take them just in case and don't worry about registering for others.

  • One last thought- if you are going back to work it would probably be pretty awesome to have a pump to leave there.

  • I would take them. It's nice to have options and multiple sets of things.

  • It would probably be nice to have extras at the grandparents' house(s). That way, it's less to take with you when you go.

I don't imagine a carrier made just for hiking would work for a NB anyway.
