I am attending a family party that my mom is hosting on Sunday.
I am already anxious about the extended family members I'll be seeing, how hot the tiny apartment is going to get with 50+ people in it and now I don't know what to eat. My mom said she ordered lunch meat sandwiches from some deli and is doing a soft cheese plate with feta and brie... all pregnant, no-nos. If I wasn't worried about where it came from or the open-house type feel where food could be left out, I would be less concerned. Would you eat it anyways or bring something else? I can't imagine not eating all afternoon, especially since I'll be helping serve and host the party.
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline!

There must be salads. Etc or other things your mom keeps in the house a that you can eat. I'd not, I would volunteer to bring a pasta salad, quiche, casserole, Mac and cheese sort of thing that you and the guests can eat.

I ate lunch meat with DS, and he's normal. I've eaten lunch meat this time too, and so far, everything's normal. I don't eat it every day; in fact it's a rarity but I wouldn't worry about it, personally.

Anyway, I don't judge or much care what any other woman eats or drinks during pregnancy. Are you somehow judging me?

No I was just curious... I eat salad too. My doctor said lunch meat was fine as long as it didn't sit out. I just thought that if you ate salad you'd eat lunch meat... Geeze...

My doctor said the risk of listeria is small, and lunch meat was fine. He recommended the pre sliced tubs since they are kept at a more constant temperature than stuff at a deli counter.
He was/is more concerned about alcohol and certain fish due to mercury levels.
