QOTD

Just to get things moving.... Do you have any really strange food habits or likes? I'm talking like pickles dipped in peanut butter. And non pregnancy stuff here. I personally can't think of anything extraordinary for me. I like boiled crawfish, and that freaks a lot of people out.

Re: QOTD

  • I prefer eating my S&V potato chips in solitude so that I can lick them first. And I like vinegar on anything fried, even chicken tenders.

  • The only strange habit I can think of is I have to make sure to remove all the strings from the banana before I eat it.  I also have texture issues with anything spongy like mushrooms, scallops and seabass.

No strange likes, pregnant or not.

I always take the top of the banana off before eating it and I'll never finish the last bite.

I find ceviche a little off-putting, but I have no problems eating raw oysters. Yes, I'm weird.
  • Croutons with cheese and dressing.  I've loved this since I was a kid.  I can't have croutons in the house for salads unless I make them ahead of time because I have zero self control.  It's ridiculous.

  • Cheez-its with cream cheese and I'm obsessed with pickled red beets lately.  I come from the land of red beet eggs and they aren't easy to find in Philly so this is the closest I can get a lot of the time.

Also, my favorite time to eat ice cream is in the winter!

  • a soft pretzel and plain M&M's

Also, my foods can't touch on my plate.

Ketchup on breakfast sausage, scrapple or bacon is so gross.  If we're out for breakfast, DH always gets scrapple and will ask if I want some before he puts ketchup on it.

  • Also, my foods can't touch on my plate.

I'm the same way, I've gotten better over time, but Thanksgiving is a nightmare for me.

  • I need to scrape the gravy off my pasta before I eat it... A few pieces at a time! I cannot stand the seeds and those red pointy things. Some Italian I am! Yes, it takes me forever to eat, especially spaghetti.

I eat a pretzel every morning at work. I think I've been doing that for over 10 years.

I do this too. My mom used to cut the ends off bananas for me when I was little, and I guess the habit stuck.

I have a tendency to deconstruct sandwiches. I take the lettuce tomato, etc. off, eat the bread and other toppings and then I eat the veggies like a salad. I also eat pizza with a knife and fork, which DH thinks is weird, although I've seen plenty of people do it.
  • Nothing too odd, except that I love ketchup.  Especially on savory breakfast foods.  Give me an omlette with a side of bacon and home fries...and all you'll see is a plate of red with some food underneath.  :)

I tend to take apart a hoagie, as I get close the end, I'm just eating the roll and cheese, then its just the roll.  I have always done that with my sandwiches.  My mom would get so mad that I was wasting it.

Another thing about hoagies or cheese steaks/roast pork, I don't like a lot of meat.  If I go to say Johns and get a roast pork sandwich, I will watch the person make my sandwich and tell them ok, that's enough.  there's like 3 pieces of pork.

  • haha, I do like ketchup, just not smothered on my food.  The only time I eat ketchup at breakfast is with scramble eggs.  OH and I despise home fries, or fried potatoes. In fact the only way I like potatoes is baked, boiled (and then seasoned with S&P and some butter) for French fries.

Not liking mashed potatoes would be a serious WTF food wise.

  • Ha milo refuses to eat the end of the banana. It annoys me. I don't believe in waste.
  • I can't stand ketchup.  I hate mayo and mustard, too.  And relish.

Me too.  I hardly use any condiments.  I'll tolerate a little mayo in a pasta/potato/tuna salad as long as it's not swimming in it.

  • The same @ JenD1018.  Everyone swears I'm missing out, but I'm quite happy, and probably healthier because of it.  Gobs of mayo do nothing for me, except make me cringe.
