If you love the smell of fall...

Drop what you are doing now and go to Whole Foods to buy their Apple Harvest Spice Scented Pine Cones.

I actually smelled them in the parking lot but had no idea where it was coming from. I did my shopping, checked out and as we're walking out the door, I see baskets of these things. I grabbed a bag and went back in line.

It smells so delicious, I do not want to leave my house. And I left one in my car.

Buy them. Do it.

Re: If you love the smell of fall...

  • My mom and I collect pine cones from around their house and make them smell delicious... looks like I need to do that here soon.

  • ok @ewill7911 how do you get them to hold scents?  I have a great supply of the cones but don't know how to get them to smell so wonderful.

What we use is pure cinnamon oil- its super potent smelling and lasts for weeks/months. You just get the pine cones put them in a heavy duty large ziploc- sprinkle some of the cinnamon oil in there and shake it up- or put them in a glass bowl and sprinkle the oil over it. I love the smell of cinnamon so mine are pretty strong.
You can also try boiling water with cinnamon sticks, but I have not tried it and do not know how successful it is. The best thing about the cinnamon oil is that if the scent fades just sprinkle some more on and its as simple as that. Plus the pure cinnamon oil is very flavorful for cooking.

  • I've never bought any but if you recommend them then I think I might buy them for some fall decor and then merge them into Christmas decor.  But, I have to admit that when I first read your post my mind went straight to this:

  • I have to check this out. The nearest Whole Foods is a half hour away but I've been wanting to go to Half Price Books which is nearby so maybe I will make the trip :)
  • I think I'll stop there on Friday ;)
