GTKY: Perks

Does your job have any perks?

Re: GTKY: Perks

  • Drug rep lunches, dunkin donuts, breakfast provided every Friday.  I set my own schedule.

  • I get cheap legal services? Lol that's about it....

  • Free Gym, my children or husband could go to college for free to 13 schools!!! Including big names like Saint Joe's and Villanova!! I don't think I last here that long but i hope to stay in higher ed, free Ipad, crazy amount of time off and a lax boss who is flexible!   I have a lot of perks that sometimes make up for the low pay and long commute, depends on the day you ask me haah

  • I have a pretty flexible schedule if I need it because I have been here so long. We get bagels and donuts on Fridays and have the ability to schedule fun stuff like our Halloween potluck.

  • I get a good amount of paid time off and my schedule can be flexible if I need it to be. We also have a child care program on site and it would be 50% off if/when we have kids.

  • I can change my hours and pretty much take off as needed without changing my pay. Also I will be able to take my child with me to work and he can stay in my office. Free food daily and breakfast most days is homemade. Personal calls don't have to be limited and gas is paid for up to 1 tank a week. Also mine and H's cellphone are paid for.
  • My perks/benefits are basically non-existant.  I don't even start accruing vacation for 12 months, which is a little ridiculous considering I have a doctorate degree.  Then once I do start to accrue, the time off is really minimal.  I do get 15% off most merchandise, but that's the only "perk" I can think of.

I'm jealous of all you ladies that have so many awesome perks!

  • I don't really get any perks....we can eat the dinner the clients get...but usually it's Gross and I dont want it anyway
  • I have off every Friday! That's my favorite perk. I also get a good amount of time off and they are super understanding if I need to switch my schedule around for the baby.

  • I have hook ups! You wouldn't believe how many hook ups a daycare teacher gets. I have a parents that gives me a 50% discount on Under Armour, I have a parent that works at Einstein Bagels and gives me left overs at the end of the day, I have a parent that works at a health care firm and is willing to offer my friend a law job, and I have another parent that is a podiatrist (I have heel spurs so I'll be working on that relationship too lol). It's pretty funny, but you don't know what hook ups you have unless you get to know the parents and their kids...!

  • I get 3 weeks vacation, 2 personal days, and 1 sick day a month. Sick time can rollover forever if you don't use it, and we can rollover 1 weeks vacation each year, but it has to be used within the year. Plus we have to use our personal days every year.

Depending on where you work this could be the norm, but as a preschool teacher in my area they are amazing perks. My sister works at a preschool and they don't get sick time or personal time. If they don't work, they don't get paid. Plus they are forced to take school vacations, whereas my program runs all year without any school vacations so I can take my vacations whenever I want.

A previous perk used to be that teachers' kids could go for FREE but apparently a lot of people were only working for the agency to get the perks and then quit.
