At the u/s this morning (5w5d), the RE and the tech said they're pretty sure they could just barely see the gestational sac.  They said it's high on the right side but they're fairly sure it's not ectopic.  The RE talked about the discriminatory zone of HCG between 1,000-1,500, where you should most likely see the gestational sac for sure.  I was at 542 on Monday, so he suspects that when we get the number back this afternoon I will not have reached the discriminatory zone yet.

So as he said, it's not bad news, but we're still just going to have to wait and see how everything develops.  They'll call this afternoon when the bloodwork comes in and he said I'll likely be back on Friday for at least bloodwork.

Update:  My nurse just called.  Beta today was 1025.  So right inside the zone where you would just begin to see the sac in the uterus.  They said it's an appropriate rise and the RE wants me back on Monday for another u/s.  I'll be 6w3d.  Thank you all for keeping me sane.  FX'd that on Monday they won't need to squint and tilt their heads to see the sac anymore.

  • It sounds like you're on track, and I'm hoping your betas come back as high as you expect. When will your next u/s be?

  • It sounds like you're on track, and I'm hoping your betas come back as high as you expect. When will your next u/s be?
Not sure, maybe Friday, maybe Monday.  The RE wasn't sure when we left.  He wanted to see the beta first.

I think if my beta today still rises appropriately but doesn't reach 1,000-1,500 that will confirm why we could just barely see the sac.  In which case they'll probably have me just do b/w on Friday (6w) and come back Monday for more b/w and another u/s.

It's so hard this early on, but know that seeing something is a good thing, and I do hope you get great beta news this afternoon.  Your betas so far have been rising appropriately, which is also a good indication that things are going well. The first few weeks are rough, but don't hesitate to come here so we can talk you down if need be. :-*
