  • My goal is once a week but it depends how organized we are. I get an organic fruit/veg basket delivered every other week, so on the off week we usually get produce, and then weekly I usually need to get milk, bread and lunch stuff. I buy meat in bulk when it's on sale to freeze. When we're disorganized we could end up there a few times in a week to grab stuff for dinner.

  • Confession: We haven't been grocery shopping in probably 2 months. I really really hate doing it! We've just been picking stuff up for dinner periodically and eating out a lot. But we need to buckle down and start sticking to a stricter budget so I'll need to start going on a more regular basis since eating out isn't really in the new budget.

  • I do a big shopping trip once a week but some times I might pop in mid week for more veggies depending on what we cook that week.

DH loves to go food shopping together. It's funny, he's sees it as a date of sorts. We like food shopping. It's probably because we are so busy with work and running a business that shopping is one of the only times we can get out together and do something with out being rushed.

  • We do stock up trips like once every month then will make quick stops for fresh stuff when we want/ need it.
  • I meal plan and grocery shop by the week.  I try not to have to stop in between because I find I just spend more money on foods I really don't need. :)

  • We usually go once a month but end up going several times in between for milk or bread or things that we need.

I was thinking about it today and wondering if it would be cheaper/easier to go once a week. I really hate grocery shopping and try to put it off as long as possible since it's always such a big and expensive trip. Going once a week or once every two weeks might cut down on the small trips in between.

  • We try to stock up once a month, and I used to go when I needed for meals that I didn't plan on making, but I've been terrible at that since school started again.

  • I just kind of go as we need to. I can't plan far enough ahead to meal plan (plus DH's schedule is pretty unpredictable, so I never know when he'll be home until that day). I end up going probably 3x a week (or more).

On top of that, there are different things that I like to get from different places (trader joe's, whole foods, stop & shop, etc), so I'm all over the place always

We go once a week and meal plan also. We used to go to a bunch of stores to get everything, but they just opened up a new store that's like a whole foods/Safeway but for the price of trader joes and it's really close to our house so that was pretty awesome!
Sometimes the meal planning goes out the window though and we end up going out or getting frozen meals during the week to save time or if the planned dinner doesn't sound appealing that night :P

  • Like most of you a main trip about every 2 weeks, with trips in between to pick up things we run out of. We also try to go to Costco every 2-3 months to stock up. I try to meal plan but lately that hasn't really been working.

  • I meal plan too (I don't assign it to one day though) and go once a week. I never have to stop throughout the week doing it this way.

Last week I shopped for 2 weeks and it's nice to not have to worry about it this week but I did have to stop for bread, milk, juice, produce. Still easier than a whole trip though. I might try to do every two weeks from now on.
