QOTD 9/27

When you were a kid, did you have "rules" about who you were going to marry?  Did you follow any of them?

For example, my rule was that I was that I had to marry someone whose last name was in the first half of the alphabet.  My maiden name starts with a W and I hated being last.  I didn't do so good with my XH since his last name started with a V but I did alot better, (in many ways) with DH since his last name starts with an L.

  • I don't think I ever had "rules."  I always said he had to be taller than me which was easy because I'm only 5'3".  H is 6'3"...plenty tall enough!

  • Well, until 5th grade, I was convinced I was going to marry my best friend, Sean. Yeah, he now lives in Colorado. But, we are still friends!

I always wanted a guy who was taller than me too.  H and I are about the same height, give or take a few quarters of an inch.

  • I don't really remember having any "rules".  However, my mom always told me to marry an orphan so that I'd never have to deal with in-laws. Unfortunately, I did not follow that "rule" LOL!

  • Oh, lord. The only person I wanted to marry when I was a kid was the guy who played the blue Power Ranger on TV. That actor turned out to be gay, so I was definitely barking up the wrong tree!

  • The only thing I can think of was that I wanted to marry someone that was family oriented because I am and I love hanging out with my family, sometimes more than my friends.

  • Totally!  I loved the Little Mermaid and Prince Eric, so I wanted to marry someone with dark hair and blue eyes, which I did.

Also, I've always had a super weird fascination with twins (it's a crazy concept to me), and DH is a fraternal twin.  Funny!

  • My H is a fraternal twin, too! I don't know that I was fascinated with twins when I was younger, but I always wanted to have twins when I had kids. Now? Now I'm not so sure, LOL!

  • Oh yes and they had to be taller than me and not skinny.

  • I didn't have any rules, but my grandma always wanted me to marry into a large family, since my mom was and I am an only child. I now have 10 sibILs and 12 nieces and nephews. ;)
  • I didn't have any rules.  I always thought of Prince Charming, but I never thought of specifics.  I always said though that I could never marry someone who couldn't make me laugh and didn't have a sense of humor of his own.  Sometimes, H makes me laugh so hard that my stomach still hurts the next day.  So I got that :)
