I must have missed, or forgetten because of my terrible memory, but why did they hold Lily back?

She was struggling with reading. Her mama wanted to hold her back but the school wanted to move her up. Her mama was held back in 1st grade so she felt that was better than working with her. This summer I made her flashcards and we practiced. By the end of the week she read the book really well. I mailed her flash cards and said I'll mail her the book if her and her mama will practice... They never did.

Plus side, we were reading this weekend and she's getting better.

That's horrible that her mother didn't want to help her. If the school felt she was okay to move on, then she should have moved on in my opinion. Well hopefully this extra year means she'll do even better in the future.

It was just sad. I didn't know and asked if her boyfriend was in her class again. She goes "No, he went to the next grade and I stayed back". I mean it didn't seem to bother her but I felt like a big turd.

That sucks. As long as Lily seemed okay with it, that's all that matters, but its a shame that you guys weren't made aware before.

Well she told Jeff what she wanted but when Jeff didn't act the way she wanted she never said anything else.

Love your pictures from your trip. Looks like the kids had a great time with you guys. Lily's outfit for the wedding was cute!
