Fitness post

How did everybody do last week? Didnt we have some doing the Great Race?

I had a better week last week. I could only make 2 Zumba classes but I ran 3 days.

I was proud that I got in a run Friday night. I didn't have much time but forced myself to go and ended up running my fastest mile ever!

I felt fine during the run and that night but since Saturday my leg is bothering me! Ugh! Not sure what it is. I ran Sunday but struggled. I want to run tonight but might give it a rest.

  • Yep, I did the great race on Sunday. It was a great day for a run, and I finished in about the same time as my last 5k and 45s quicker than the first great race I ran a few years ago.  So I will take that as a win.  I am signed up for the Mario Lemiux 6.6k on this Sunday which is about 4.1 miles. The last mile being a uphill through town. Should be interesting.  My plan is to get to the gym today and Thursday for 3-3.5 miles on an elliptical and strength training. With K being OOT getting to the trail while the sun isn't blazing and hot is difficult. So the elliptical will have to do. Saturday I have a spin class intro at my gym. So I will see if that is something I am interested in doing.

    I am also trying to get my eating back in check and am counting calories. I had been really lax about it lately and with the holidays coming up I want to make sure I can be a glut then without undoing the effort I put in early this year! hehehe.
  • congrats to all of the great racers!!!

    I made it out to run 2.25 miles twice last week, then I did 2.5 miles on Sunday. I'm running the Tanger 5K with my SIL this Sunday, so hopefully I will get out at least once more this week before the race.

  • I ran the Great Race and finished in 29:13. I was pretty happy with that time considering I hadn't run for 7 days prior to that! I ran a little over 4 miles this morning, but I felt like I was struggling for some reason. I plan to go for another run on Thursday and I might try to sneak one in Saturday morning as well. I plan on running the 6.6 Lemieux run on Sunday too!

    Amanda - I am really worried about that hill at the end! Sometimes, I am out of breath just walking up to my car after work!

  • I was not motivated at all last week, even though I had planned on being really good!  I did two runs, a 5 and a 10.  That was my first double digit run, but man was I slow!

    This week I am not feeling well because I now have a double ear infection.  I skipped my running day yesterday, but took a Pilates class today.  I plan to run Wednesday and Friday, and hope to to fit a class in at some point too.
  • Back to the gym tomorrow for me :) I had my wisdom teeth taken out Saturday so I've been taking it easy because I'm scared to death of getting dry socket. Ha!

    And it isn't a huge incline... it just never stops!  So that paired with my never having run 4 miles anytime recently... well. I am going to struggle. Great time on your Great Race!
  • I did yoga and my body blast class last week.  The end of the week didn't turn out like I planned since my dad had surgery and there was a lot of going to/from the hospital and helping my mom out at home.

    I went to yoga yesterday and will do Body Blast tonight.  I really want to fit in Pilates on Thursday and will probably go to the sucky zumba class on Saturday morning.
