1st anniversary gifts?

I'm trying to figure out what to get H for our first anniversary. I'd like to stick with the tradition of paper, but I really have no idea what to get him other than maybe some tickets to a football game or a concert. I wanted to get him Rodney Carrington tickets, but he won't be in Texas this year.

Other than tickets, what else could you do to keep with the paper tradition? Does giving him the receipt for something count? lol

I'm doing a 4-frame photo collage with maps for where he was born (VT), where I was born (IN), where we met (MI), and where we got married (IN). You've probably seen the pin on pinterest, which is where I got the idea. I'm also writing him a letter because he loves sappy stuff and I'm not usually too sappy, so it's a special occasion lol.

I think the receipt would totally count!

I love the map idea!! DH is in love with maps. We get them pretty much everywhere we go. Where are you getting yours from?

Anyway, I have to finish up our wedding album and that will be our gift.

I think that the receipt is a cute idea.

I'm just using road maps actually, and I have asked for MIL to send me a map of VT since I can't find them anywhere here or online (??). I don't know if she can get me one since she lives in PA now, but I'm hoping so.

We also need to finish our wedding album! It's soooo hard to narrow the pics down, I love too many of them!

Our anniversary gift to each other will be our "paper" boarding passes to our flight to Italy the next day!

I'm also hoping that we get our ***insert bad words here*** wedding video before we leave...we were supposed to get it by the end of Sept, then that got moved to "guaranteed by 1st anniversary". I will be beyond pissed if I can't watch our video on our 1st anniversary!

@Nic12184 - I can't believe you still haven't gotten your wedding video! I'm so sorry you are dealing with that. I really hope you guys have it by your anniversary.

@ystaalenburg I am so pissed off! When we met with our videographer, he told us it would take 6 months. When April came along, we contacted him because we still had to submit our song choices. He told us it would be done in May. Then, in June/July DH emailed him asking if it was done....no response. In August DH called him and he promised it would be done by the end of Sept. Then, a few weeks ago, he emailed DH to say that he was "finalizing it", and it was supposed to be done last by Wed, but that it was now guaranteed by our first anniversary.

I don't understand how it can take you a full year to edit someone's video when this is his full time job! He came recommended by almost all of our other vendors too. The thing I'm most annoyed with is that he posted preview videos on his website of weddings that happened after ours. We never got a preview and our video still isn't done, stop working on weddings from 2013 when 2012 isn't done yet!

DH doesn't want to piss him off, but I'm getting very, VERY annoyed. If I don't have our video by this time next week, I will be calling him and I will NOT be as nice as DH has been!

I just got a Groupon for a couple's massage. Which DH will love! I couldn't think of anything else "paper."

@nic12184 I would lose my mind! I hope he gets his crap together soon. I would be so mad after I got my video I would put one heck of a nasty review on my local TN board as well.

@nic12184 that is totally unacceptable and I would be trying to get some of my money back by this point. And I would be tearing him a new one with reviews.

Most of the reviews I've read people have written right after the wedding, before they got their video. He was great at the wedding! He was very professional and definitely a "fly on the wall". I didn't want a camera in my face all night and I rarely saw him, which was a good thing. He's very stealth, but manages to capture a lot!

I think that because it takes so long to receive your video, people just don't feel like writing reviews at that point!

DH keeps telling me to calm down. I'm not the type that was the crazy bride by any means and I didn't give any of our vendors a hard time at all, but this is making me so angry....I may just turn into bridezilla a year after the wedding LOL!

@nic12184, I am so sorry this is taking so long. It's definitely time to get nasty and maybe something will get accomplished. You've been nice for long enough.

I have NO idea what to get H. He got me a gift a few weeks ago and keeps talking about how great it is. He also keeps saying it will make up for the crappy birthday he gave me (it was like my birthday didn't matter, and it was my 30th). I doubt that though because I only wanted 1 thing for my birthday and I know he didn't get it for our anniversary either. If you want to know the birthday story, let me know, I'll make a post.

I was thinking about getting him tickets, but he's not a concert person, baseball season is over (we're Mets fans) and I am pretty sure he wouldn't want to go to a Jets game. I also want to stick to the paper idea. I was thinking of a weekend away. We talked a few months ago about going to Cooperstown to the Baseball Hall of Fame. I may plan that.

I went the modern route, I got H a watch. His battery died so it needed to replace it so while at the store, we looked at the watches and he picked one out that he liked and I got him that watch. He already got the watch and I told him it was his anniversary present. He said he would return the favor by making my anniversary present clock related but we will see if he even remembers since we are the end of October.

I haven't decided. We probably won't do anything really big since we just bought the house. He technically took me to Mumford & Sons, but it was a month in advance...I'm thinking we'll do something small and go to dinner. The house is gift enough!

We are so not gift people. We like going away for the weekend. We were going to go to Atlantic City, but the ER bill depleted my savings for that. Now with the gov't shutdown our idea of Baltimore for the night and a nice restaurant is also out. Might be McDonald's and our cake top if I'm still not working haha. I was looking into seeing Florida Georgia Line later this month but H didn't seem super excited.

H said he has a gift in mind for me, but he does that and never comes through. Usually I just buy my own bday gifts haha. I'm still waiting for my valentine's day gift...

I did get a picture frame. I'm going to chalkboard paint the inside so we can write "# years" or something on it and take a picture every year. Like this:

Our 1st anniversary gifts will be our paper boarding pass for our cruise to Bermuda :-) I also plan on taking a picture of us holding a picture of us from the wedding. As each yeah pass I plan to hold up the picture from the year before...something I sure you have all seen on Pinterest lol

I decided to get him tickets to a football game. University of TX vs Baylor University. He went to Baylor and love UT, so he's always wanted to go to that game. Tickets went on sale yesterday and by the time I went to go by them, they were pretty much sold out and I didn't get the seats I wanted, but oh well. He'll still have a good time.

We really couldn't think of gifts for this year. We celebrated yesterday by going to the Renaissance Faire in our home state with a bunch of our friends. He got a leather archery arm guard and I got chain mail earrings.

I bought him a cute outfit for our anniversary dinner tonight and am putting the tags in his card, HA! It's paper, right? I'm also writing a sappy love letter
