First cervical check

No dilation. Slightly effaced. Womp womp.

I know it's still early and I was actually afraid of being dilated because I want to make it to term (not that being dilated automatically means labor, obviously) but it's surprisingly disappointing to hear.

But! He is head down. That is a huge relief to me because for some reason I was convinced he was no where near the right position. At least all the pelvic pressure isn't all for not.

Enjoying these last few weeks and hoping for more progress next week. :)

Re: First cervical check

  • Glad to hear that things went well. You are always hoping to have made some progress but LO being head down is a good start! Hopefully in the next few weeks you will progress more!

  • I know you're disappointed but cervical checks don't tell you much. You may have made no progress and then progress quickly or the opposite can be true. I wouldn't worry. Glad he's head down and all is well!

  • Try not to get too disappointed with the checks. I was sure that things would progress slowly for me being that I was a first time mom, but once it was on it was ON!

I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.
  • Try to just look at the positives. He's head down and you're starting to efface! I changed from no dilation or effacement to fingertip dilated and 80% effaced in a matter of a week. So change can happen pretty quickly. Don't worry too much about it. :)

  • Thanks ladies. I'm ok with it. I know it can change overnight and that it doesn't necessarily mean it's coming soon. I'm also not in a hurry to kick him out just yet. :)

More than anything I am thrilled he's head down. I thought he was sideways or footling breech. Self diagnosis with no basis, but I did. Lol so glad he's where he needs to be!
