So it seems that they are several of us that are TTC or are going to be soon. I am one of the "TTC soon" ladies and I was wondering what you guys are doing/did to prepare yourself to start like change your diet, stop drinking coffee, charting, etc. I have started taking pre-natal vitamins but that's really it. I am curious to hear what others have been doing.

Re: TTC Question
I told my Gyno at my last visit we were thinking about TTC. So she asked me a ton of questions, mainly about genetic diseases, etc. She also said regular vitamins were ok, but I'll probably switch to pre-natals when I run out. She said taking a multivitamin at the time of concieption cuts down on a lot of spinal disorders by 70-75% (I think, it was 3 months ago). That's made me pretty dilagient about them.
I've been cutting back my coffee for a while now. I'm down from 3 cups in the morning to 1. That's the only caffienated drink I drink.
I've been eating better and excerising, but that's for overall health, but I'm sure it'll help if/when we get pregnant. I'm told if you're already working out you can keep going while pregnant. Just nothing new.
I signed up for Fertility Friend app. They send you like 15 emails about temping/charting and other ways of knowing when you're ovulating.
Right now I'm just tracking my cycle on FF, and having sexy time around the time they say I'm fertile/ovulating. I'll probably start temping after this cycle and/or using ovulation strips. I like numbers and charts, H just told me to let him know when it's baby making time. We all know he's crazy about this.
I bought 25 HPT from wondu on Amazon so I'm not paying a ton for them at the store.
I started taking a prenatal vitamin and stopped all my prescription medications (i was taking a migraine medication that would cause fetal abnormalities). I wasnt tracking anything i just counted 10 days from my last period bc a friend suggested to do that and figured I had a 3 day window to conceive. I will say 2 years prior i was diagnosed with PCOS and taking medication for that, one of the side effects is you become fertile and to use BC, i feel that it helped bc for a long time i didnt get my period regularly, maybe 2-3x a year.
I was already eating healthy and working out bc of the wedding so I just continued with that, luckily we conceived on our wedding night.
*stepping off soapbox*
So getting back to the regularity scheduled question. I started taking prenatal vitamins awhile ago. I've been trying to eat healthier, and so has H. We went to a preconception seminar together where he learned a lot of the things women learn about pregnancy, things we should do and eat. Though even at the seminar, the dr kept with the monthly schedule of you should ovulate at day 14, nothing more. I think I am going to start temping next month because I now find it a little interesting and want to know that I'm ovulating. I've cut back of drinking, though I still have wine after bad days. I am using the motto drink until its pink.
Good luck when you start!! And good luck to the others that are trying too!
I started temping when I went off BC and we got pregnant the first cycle. I gave my body 2 weeks after my D&C, then I started temping again. It seemed like my body went back to normal that fist cycle.
Since the miscarriage, I've just been temping. I tried to track my cervical mucus, but I couldn't remember to check every day. I still take my multivitamins and folic acid every day. I am trying to get into a cardio routine so I can continue when we get pregnant again, but I am so wrapped up in work that I can't get to the gym
@lwoehik, I went to Catholic high school. They taught us NFP. I learned about the fertile window and counting your days. They didn't go into temping and cervical mucus/position though. My parents were very thrilled that night at dinner.
Parents: What'd you learn in school today, Samantha?
Me: I learned how to use natural family planning in religion class.
Parents: Forks hit the plate, conversation ended.
I highly recommend charting with fertility friend starting now temping so you can learn how your body works. Of course, if you're still taking birth control you won't ovulate so other than for making it a habit the temps wouldn't mean anything.
That said, I just want to tell you not to get discouraged if it doesn't happen right away. It can take a healthy couple a year to get pregnant...even when hitting all the right times. DH and I tried for 7 months. Its really ironic because they found something on my thyroid and I went home and told him we needed to put TTC on hold until we knew more about what was wrong. I knew we'd had sex the last 3 days in a row during my FW so there was a chance that this could be the month but we decided to not try anymore if it wasn't but it was and here I am, 5 months later pregnant with cancer. Not exactly what we wanted for our first pregnancy but baby's doing just fine....me on the other hand, not so much...but we've got a few more months to go so we can start treatment once baby is here.
