Runners

I remember a post a while ago about side stitches. I feel like there was a link to some ways to fix it and 1 said to exhale a certain time. I can't remember if it was when the opposite side foot strikes the ground or the same side. Anyone remember or have their own tricks to get rid of them?

When I first started running I would get mild ones. But I haven't gotten them in ages. My last few runs I've gotten them about 1.5 miles in and they are really bad! I am getting annoyed! I want to keep running but I just can't because it gets so bad and just gets worse if I run. So I walk and try to run again once its gone but it will come right back.

  • I STILL get them, which is super annoying.  Although they aren't constant now, and seem to pass more quickly so that's good.  I have not found any magical solution, but I do find that when they kick in, I have to slow down my pace (or even walk for a minute or two to allow myself to take a couple of deep breaths) if I don't do that, they will just get worse :(

  • I have not had one in a while, but find they are related to my not breathing out enough. Pushing hard into your sore side can help. Or so I have read.  Runners world is usually a good spot to read up on running troubleshooting!
