I'm wearing white capris today. I really don't care what other people think, nor do I tend to follow fashion "ins" but I had two people (aka strangers) comment on me wearing white today. Do you/is it okay to wear white after Labor Day??

  • Wear what makes you feel pretty. Nobody cares anymore. At least nobody who matters.

  • Special Snowflake -- I don't even know when Labor Day is anymore. I think it's September-ish, right? Regardless, I wouldn't care even if I was still in the US.

And in the rest of the world, Labor Day is May 1, so heck yeah!

  • It never occurred to me not to wear white or to notice anyone else wearing it.  I know the saying, but figured it was antiquated.

  • I voted SS. I think it depends on what you are wearing, not just the color. I agree that it is rather antiquated. I thought that saying was just for white shoes though, so what do I know?

  • Wait, who voted no?

  • I have zero fashion sense, so I don't care.  I wear what I want when I want.  And I don't judge others for what they're wearing because chances are they know better than me what is "cool" or "stylish."

But I'm with Jacki and I pretty much never wear white because I would make a mess of myself before I even made it out the door of my house.
  • Um I wear whatever I want whenever I want...no fashion guru here :-)

P.S. Love seeing you around...posing machine today!!! @packfan20

  • I voted no, but I also don't wear white before Labor Day, either.
  • I didn't even think the whole no white after Labour Day was a thing anymore...expect where my Gramma and Nana are concerned.

  • WTH is Winter White then, if you are not supposed to wear white after Labor Day?

  • I thought that just went for shoes.  I don't care either way, but I rarely wear white shoes after labor day.  But I will on rare occasion.

Ditto for Arizona.  When it never gets below 70 degrees for a high, you can pretty much get away with wearing summery clothes any time you want.

  • I put SS because it really should depend on how it looks. Sometimes there are clothes that are too summery or white that are worn in the middle of winter that needed to be put away.

  • I voted no only because I don't wear it after Labor Day. I don't know, I'm psycho I guess. I tend to stop wearing anything that looks summery after September. :) BUT I would never call someone out that is wearing white. I definitely don't care what other people wear.

I can confirm that Northern CA doesn't care. We are home to Google, Facebook, and Apple. People here jeans, t-shirts, and chucks to work. We certainly don't give a flying fig about what colors we wear in which seasons.

    This.

I'm most likely to think about fabric, rather than color, if I decide not to wear something. i.e. linen pants are a no-go in winter.

  • Yes you can. And lucky you. I love white capris but am way too pale for that lol.

  • I don't really ever wear white shoes or pants but I certainly wear white sweaters and shirts all year.
If you like it wear it!!

  • I voted SS because I don't really ever wear white. I would maybe not wear white shoes after Labor Day? Maybe? Not sneakers, but sandals, pumps, flats, etc. But I don't really wear white ever because I am a hot mess of a klutz, and light colors like that are an invitation for stains for me.

  • I rarely wear white.  The one time I wore white capris someone spilled red wine on me, I felt like it was a lesson for me to stay away from white.

I've been doing a good bit of fall fashion searching on Pinterest and a lot of people are throwing out the white after Labor Day rule.  I say wear what you want.  I can't believe someone would comment on that.

  • I guess despite the fact that it's October, it HAS been 80 degrees so I think that silly rule doesn't apply.  Glad to see others agree that it's kind of old school.

  • I say wear it, it's been in the 80's in Maine this week.  It's an outdated rule.

  • Winter white is more like a cream as opposed to a bright white.  Also winter white is usually a coat/shirt/sweater, not pants.

I don't really care what other people wear.  But it's been unseasonably warm this past week, I'm not surprised that people are wearing white pants.

I don't wear white pants at any time!
