Trying The Shining again

I love SK. I started reading him in middle school, and I loved all of his books. I read short books, long books, scary books, spooky books, psychological books, all the books. The Shining stopped me. I swear to you, I got Rachel and Joey and the freezer freaked out by this book. I had to stop. I made it as far as the first elevator scene. That was years ago, possibly even as many as 20. I'm trying again. I'm not any braver than I was, but I'm hoping I can make it through this time because I want to read Dr. Sleep. Wish me luck.

I have never been scared by a book. I really wonder/hope this will be the one that does it.

I confess that I've never read it. I love the movie, but I know there are a lot of differences. I would also like to read Dr Sleep, so I think I'm going to pick up The Shining this month too. Anyone listened to the audiobook? I think I might do that.

I don't remember it being all that scary. But I didn't find the Exorcist scary either. I guess I am just more of a visual person. If I can't see it, it can't scare me.

See, if I see it it's just gross, but if I can imagine it, it freaks me the hell out. I'm hoping I was just in a weird place the first time I tried to read it and it won't be that bad. If anything I've gotten to be more of a chicken as I've gotten older.

Having seen that already, plus the Kubrick movie (even though I know it's different), I'm hoping I can deal with the creepy factor better this time.

For the life of me I couldn't remember this episode. I tried searching YouTube for this clip and came up short so $1.99 later I bought it on Amazon.
