Oakland - Suggestions for dinner/drinks before a concert at The Peterson Events Center

Hi ladies,
My BFF and I are heading to the Pete tomorrow night to see Nine Inch Nails. We have pit tickets, dear lord I hope I don't break a hip...anyway...

I haven't been in Oakland in ages. Where would be a good/inexpensive place to have dinner and drinks. My first thought was The O - but I haven't been there in a very long time and have heard it's a bit sketchy these days, correct me if I'm wrong.

TIA!

Re: Oakland - Suggestions for dinner/drinks before a concert at The Peterson Events Center

  • How about either Joe Mama's (Italian) or Fuel and Fuddle?
  • Love love love fuel and fuddle! If you want a bit more dive-y, Hemingways or peters pub can be good. If drinks wise you just want beer then I love pizza sola (man miss the food of Oakland!)
  • I'm going to the show with my BFF tonight too. We were thinking about Hemmingway's or Fuel & Fuddle, but now she's decided to drive to my house and come with my (i live close) so I think we're doing something in shadyside first instead.

We'll have to discuss the show tomorrow :)

  • I was out yesterday & couldn't chime in, but I also would have suggested Fuel & Fuddle or Joe Mama's.  :)  where did you end up going? Hope you had a fun night!

  • Ryan, I saw your note on the pit tickets. The people going to the show are as old as we are...making the pit much less crazy. I've gone to a ton of shows this summer, and I've been amazed how calm the pits were for the shows. The rowdiness of days past seems to be gone (even for shows attracting younger crowds) :)

  • Hahahah, Lisa, after I bought the tickets I was like "WTF was I thinking?" but yes, you're right - it's going to be filled with seniors like us :)

I am irrationally excited. NIN is my all time favorite. I've seen them every time they've been to PGH, but haven't enjoyed the outdoor venue. I cannot wait to see the crazy videos in the dark as INTENDED :)

  • do you think they would be arriving right about now in a huge, black tour bus?  If so, I think I just saw them driving down Forbes Ave!
