2nd Ultrasound

all went well today!! we saw the heartbeat and it was amazing:) I'm so happy.

I was irrationally worried about the visit, but the RE said i'm right on track.

I go back again next week for another ultrasound.

girls that have used a RE, how often did you go for ultrasounds in the beginning. I was suprised that he wanted me back again next week. but he said it was standard.

  • Great news!

I had one at 6w4d and then at 9w3d. We always knew how far along I was b/c of IVF, so maybe my first one was scheduled so I'd be far enough along to most likely see a heartbeat. (I'm assuming it was too early to see a HB at your first u/s?) Enjoy the extra glimpses of baby though!

it was too early to see the HB.

and i'm certainly enjoying all these u/s because I know that they'll be few and far between when I move to my mw.

  • Yay!  That's great news!!!

I had two u/s with my RE.  I had one at 5w5d and 6w6d.  Though, according to baby's measurements, I was technically 6w4d and 7w5d.  After those, our RE discharged us to my OB!  Getting discharged was so exciting!  Our office gave us cookies!  :)

  • The sitting in the waiting room for an US is so stressful!  I always get so worried.

    So glad everything looks great!

I would only had one US with my RE (@ 7 weeks) when she released me to my OB, but since I was spotting, I called and went in for another one with her because I couldn't get an appointment with my OB for another couple of weeks.

  • Happy to hear that everything went great, and you got to hear the heartbeat.

I know it's different, but I work with a Fertility OB and I will have 1 ultrasound around week 8. At that time I will be handed off to my midwife.

  • so maybe it is really weird that i'm going to have 3 u/s with the RE before getting handed over to my ob?

  • Glad your u/s went well! Maybe it is standard for your RE's office? Or maybe because tour first one was so early?

wiggyslilsis said...maybe it's just protocol with your RE.  And heck...you get to see LO again!!  :)  That's always great!

Glad things are going well! I don't think the extra u/s sounds weird. If you are on track so far it doesn't sound like additional measures because of concern.

  • Yay for a great appointment :)
  • I ended up having one u/s for 5 weeks with my RE mainly due to my history of losses before she would release me to my OB. Just enjoy the extra glimpses now!

  • Yay! So glad everything looks good!

I think we had three ultrasounds with our RE to make sure things kept growing. At the last one (around 8 weeks), I was released to the OB, who did another u/s at 10 weeks or so.

  • I had several before I was released to the OB/GYN. I think it depends on the RE.

TTC since May 2010. DX Unexplained IF.  IUI #1 in August 2012. Clomid, Menopur plus Ovidrel. BFN.  IUI #2 in September 2012.  Clomid, Menopur plus Ovidrel.  BFN. IUI #3 in October 2012. BFN.  IVF in April/May 2013: BFP.  Due February 2, 2014 Thank you God!

  • I had two ultrasounds. One at 7/8 weeks and another at 9/10 weeks and then grsduated. I still get a little anxious before appointments. We worked really hard to get that baby in there... The what ifs are very daunting!

  • Great news! Our first two pregnancies, we went at 6w for a viability check, and then 7w to check for growth. My pregnancy with P, I had one weekly until 10 weeks bc I was so worried about miscarrying again (my 2nd stopped growing a day or so after the growth check at 7w). My RE was fine with it and humored me. The next week was my NT scan. Then routine a/s, and I asked for a growth scan at 31 weeks (because I was still paranoid).

  • I'm going every 2 weeks with the RE (at 5, 7 and 9 weeks). I would have been discharged last week at 7 weeks but I haven't past my loss milestone yet so he agreed to one more.
