Our newest addition :D

H and I have been looking around for a dog for the last few months. Last night, H was looking on CL and found someone trying to rehome 2 month old Miniature Schnauzer pups.  It was an "oops" litter from her two dogs and she just wanted to find them a good home.

Well, today we met with her and ended up with Hans.  He's so cute!!  He seems to have a great personality, perfect for our life style.  He loves to be cuddled up next to us or be laying in our laps and has stayed near us since he's been with us.

FYI - if you are getting a puppy in the future, this is an awesome deal.  We stopped at PetSmart on the way home to get supplies for Hans and found that they have a Puppy Package.  You get $15 off a specialty food, a free bath package, a free exam at the Banfield Clinic, and several other coupons for items that you'd need for a new puppy.  It costs $20 bucks, but the free exam at Banfield is enough to make it worth while, as it's $40.

Now for photo bomb!

  • He's so stinking' cute! Oh my goodness :)
  • Thanks everyone!  He's my new love :D

We tried having him sleep in the bathroom last night in case any accidents happened.  That only lasted about an hour until he woke us up with the most pitiful crying.  So, he slept in the bed last night and thankfully no accidents!  We ordered a kennel for him, so he'll be sleeping in that soon enough.

  • So cute!!! We did the bathroom at night with ours because he was kenneled during work and we felt bad. We would wake in the middle of the night to let him out for the first few weeks. Like a child.....

  • He is adorable!  Give him a snuggle for me please.
  • Ahh!! He's super cute. I think we need more pics!! :D

I don't know how you feel about Banfield in general, but while their office exam is expensive, it's free if you get their wellness plan. I was hesitant at first when we got our puppy, but it's great. They get all of their puppy shots included, they tell you when they need them, etc. All office visits are free, you just pay for the specific tests or medications they need that aren't included in the plan. You also get a discount on all other services. The puppy plan has a lower discount than when they're adults, but it's been well worth it so far. Last summer our pup ate part of a toy and ended up having to have surgery. The plan saved us like $600 off of what they would have charged us had we not had it. Just something to consider!! :)

Our friends have the wellness plan for their two dogs and really like having it as well!  I'm trying to convince H that it's a good thing to have, but he's reluctant.  He doesn't want to have the monthly expense if it isn't worth it, but it's kinda like having insurance.  It's better to have and not need, then to need and not have.

I'd say it's absolutely best when they're a puppy just because of all the shots and such. Feel free to show him what I said. haha.

  • He's so cute!! We did the puppy plan at Banfields and love it. It includes all office visits, shots and neutering. At his one year mark we will reduce plan and pay less to the one without neutering. With each visit it shows on your bill what you would paid without the plan, believe me it's worth every penny!
