Flippin A!

So I have only told 1 person at work that I'm pregnant, and she's also the same girl who knew about our IF struggles, testing, meds, etc.  I've been wearing my regular clothes to work since day 1, and today is no different.

Well, I came out of the bathroom and my co-worker who's desk is right outside of it, kept staring at me. We are a very small and close office, so I asked her what was up and she told me to come closer.  She then whispered to me, "are you pregnant?"  I asked her what made her think that, and she said I was wearing this same outfit a few weeks ago and today my tummy looks to be pushed out more, and my boobs look bigger in it.  And she knows I haven't gained any weight.  I just laughed and told her I haven't been running as much lately, and it's probably my stomach losing some tone.  I played the boobs part off to be a new bra.

But WTF? My plans are to not tell work until after Thanksgiving, and if she's already noticing a fluffy belly and big tata's, then I need to get thinking of some creative wardrobe options.

I know there's no way that my stomach is getting bigger yet, but the pants I'm wearing today also don't restrain it at all either. So maybe there's a little bit of bloat not being held in.

How did you ladies get away with nobody figuring it out for the first few months?  I usually wear form fitting clothes to work, so I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to pull off the "frumpy" look so I can get away with it a little while longer.

Re: Flippin A!

  • I'm waiting for answers to this because when I was getting dressed this am I thought to myself, how do I hide my boobs?!!
  • Cardigans

I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.
  • I ended up telling work at 13 weeks. There really was no mistaking that my belly was growing.

thank goodness the weather is finally starting to drop!
  • Your tummy is likely bloat. I looked 4 months pg at 9 wks because I was constipated. The bbs though. Yeah, hard to hide them when they get swollen. GL keeping it under wraps until after Thanksgiving. I managed until last week so I did pretty good.

Speak sweetly so that if you ever have to eat your words, they don't taste bad.

    Lesson learned!!

  • There's a certain way with the bloat that looks more like pregnant than gained weight.

I went to a party at friends house and there were people there I haven't seen since HS. After the party I asked her if one person was PR and she was shocked that I figured it out because she wasn't far along. She's not a small girl, but I noticed her bit of belly has more of a round-ness to it.

  • I told work at 13 weeks because certain outfits just couldn't hide it.  Cardigans are good.  So are oversize sweaters, so long as they don't cling.

  • I'm going to have to search for some flowy shirts or something.  I still have to look professional though (even though our office is very casual).

Maybe I'll resort to some of my sundresses, and put a cardi over them.

  • I dress in form fitting clothes too. I just added cover ups to my usual outfits and it didn't seem to draw attention.

Can't help with the boob issue though. I am already a DD and they never got any bigger at all so that wasn't an issue for me.

  • I ended up telling work pretty early at about 7 weeks. I had to because my m/s was so bad and I needed my boss's help getting my co worker to stop using the very perfumy smell pot smells. She didn't stop when I asked her nicely or when I barfed every morning when I walked in. So I had to get my boss involved. It wasn't all smells just the floral/perfumy ones. I think it is hard to hide from people you spend all day every day with!

  • A lot of the women I work with knew around 7 weeks because I couldn't hide the m/s.  It's one thing to not feel well for a day or two, but to try and pull off an upset stomach for a week straight was tough.  I lost weight because of m/s and didn't have to worry about bloat until about 9-ish weeks.  After that, I just didn't care.

  • Luckily, most people won't flat out ask. However, people can speculate all they want. I approached my first pregnancy thinking it was hilarious that everyone probably thought I was just getting fat.

  • I think someone needs to pay more attention to her work than to her coworker's bodies...

But seriously, that's not cool. The good news is, most people will keep their thoughts to themselves, even if they notice something different (which most probably won't). Sorry she noticed, but I really doubt you look much different than you did last week.
