QotD 10/3

If this was the future and you could name your child anything you wanted, without fear of teasing and funny looks, what would it be?

Re: QotD 10/3

  • For a girl we like the name Natalie Elizabeth, and for a boy we like the name Thomas Wendell.

  • I really like the name Fabian, but I think the kid would get made fun of. So, we'll go with Gabriel for a boy and Sarah or Summer for a girl.
  • For a girl I have always loved the name Mackenzie but since that is our last name (spelled differently) H would kill me and I could see her getting made fun of horribly for that one.
  • A girl would be Charleigh Marie, and a boy would be jake Gordon.

H and I have agreed on Charlotte Marie for a little girl. Nickname Charlie.
Charleigh is spelled too differently, and I like the idea of a more feminine full name so if she doesn't like Charlie later, that's okay.

And jake is out because I live near about a million different Hutterite colonies and everyone and their dog is jake. And FIL's dog is jake.

We used to like Jack as a first name for a boy, but I'm not set on that anymore.

  • I always loved the name Willow so that's what I named my older cat. I love Oscar for a boy but H is definitely against that.

  • We have names picked.  For a boy we would use Samuel Joseph.  For a girl we would use Cecelia Rose or Anna May.

I do have guilty pleasure names.  Boys would have to be Luke (doesn't go at all with our last name), and girl would be Anastasia (thanks 50 shades for killing that for me) or I love Daphne and Cordelia but H hates them.

  • We have our names picked out and they both might get made fun of for that but Im really not worried. I got made of other things and called Melissa Ethedige because in a 6th grade boys mind calling me a lesbian was supposed to make me cry...anywho...

Our names are Nash for a boy and Eleanor for a girl. We plan on calling her Ellie, then when she older she can be Elle and then an old lady eleanor haah

They are both family names and I just want a good solid name for my kids no fads

  • I like Edith for a girls name but my h doesn't I think it is old fashion and adorable.

  • We named our first son Theodore William after H's grandfathers so our next boy will be after my grandfathers. However, my Poppop's real name is Henrico and I can't bring myself to name my child Henrico so he will be Henry William (yes we both had Bills as grandfathers!).

If our next is a girl, she'll be Courtney Noelle. If T had been a girl, he would have been Courtney. I also like Hailey.

  • I work at a preschool, so finding a name that I like that a bad kid hasn't ruined for me is hard to come by. This is what we have come up with so far... For a girl Leila, Sage, and Reese. For a boy Jacoby, Max, and George.

  • I love Biblical names, different ones. David, John, James, mark, Matthew are all too common. All powerful biblical figures, but unfortunately too common. H thinks common names are great so that kinda sucks- we might clash a lot over this sorta thing. I like Jerra and Mia as girls names from Jeremiah (either a suggestion for twins or a first and middle). I also kinda like Olivia from the Mount of Olives (where Jesus was praying before he was betrayed by judas, I think). For boys, I like Zion (AKA: City of David) and Isaiah. Some of these I haven't even mentioned to H cuz I don't want him to say no before we even TTC.

  • I love Biblical names too, but probably wouldn't use them IRL..

    Some of my faves are:

Hezekiah, Ezekiel, Enoch, Malachai, Micah (for a girl), Atarah

Names we are actually considering for this one:

Raine Elizabeth or William Raine/Raine William  - Raine is a family name from my side and Elizabeth is both my mothers middle name and my DH's deceased aunt's name, and William is also a family name on both sides.

  • My favourite name is Nora. My grandmother's name was Norma which is a little old fashioned for me but it's similar and I love it. DH doesn't like Nora, and there's also the issue that we live in Quebec so we have to choose a name that people will pronounce well in French. Names that end in -a tend to be pronounced badly, so it would sound like Nor-uh which is awful. lol

@heightdeprived, I also love Charlotte, but it's another name that DH dislikes so I'm not sure if it will happen! I picture a little girl with brown hair and blue eyes nicknamed Charlie and it melts my heart!

  • @MiniMeg526 H has really nice blue eyes, so i'm hoping our kids get his eyes. We're both reddish- blonde though, so i'm not sure the brown hair would happen. lil girl with lil blonde curls and blue eyes... that'd be awesome! haha :) *sigh* just need to get pregnant first.... we're working on it..
