Paint help?

What does GP think of this color? It is for our bedroom. I originally painted the walls a dark teal with a dark brown accent wall and after about 3 months of that, I am already over it. Any other suggestions? PIP get bonus points!

I am also getting ready to paint the kitchen, but I'm not sure what color, or how to divide the colors in it will work. The kitchen has one wall that attatches to the hall way, and I don't know how to pick a color that can also go down the hall. Or where to transition it into a different color for the hallway. As you can see, there is a wood divider all the way around, it is an option to take it down, or we can paint the top, bottom, and the wood piece. The last picture also shows the hallway that has a shared wall. I can take new pics at different angles if any one is interested.

Our living room is called prairie sage and our bathroom is a pale blue grey

Re: Paint help?

  • here's a similar color to our bathroom. Sorry, but I can't insert pictures in the middle of text where I want them, because I don't know how.. :-/
  • I think it's a fun color, but I personally think it might be too bright for a bedroom. I think it would be overwhelming and get old fast. It looks like something that would be in a kid's room, if that makes sense. We have a similar color in our hall bath and I hate it. It was that way when we bought the house. I just haven't had time to figure out what color I want in there.

For the kitchen, I'd pick something neutral for that one wall or make it an accent wall that you could continue to the hall. In our first house, one kitchen wall went all the way through the living room with no natural break for paint colors. We ended up making that whole wall a dark brown and the rest was a nice beige. I'll see if I can find some pics, but I don't really know where they are so no promises! ;)

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

  • I agree that the kitchen/hall should be a neutral and pick a complimentary colour for the rest of the kitchen. I did a similar colour in my bathroom and actually painted my kitchen the same blue/grey because I loved it so much. We also painted our cabinets off white and installe grey counters and a grey and white marble backsplash and I love if just as much in the kitchen. For your bedroom, what about a darker grey and accent with a colour you love? Then if you get sick of it, you can replace your bedding vs painting.

  • I love a soft yellow, like a butter yellow, for a kitchen. My kitchen is currently red and I'm over it... but not enough to where I want to change it lol. I also love light blues or grays these days.
