QOTD 10/14

Cathy is lucky enough to not have to work today.  So I'll post for the rest of us stuck at work.

Do you have baby names picked out for your future children?

If you have kids, did you have names picked out before TTC?  Did you stick with that name?

Re: QOTD 10/14

  • DH and I had a long talk about this last night.  With my health improving, TTC is in the near future.  We were just talking about names and so far the only name we both love is River.  I think it's funny because DH is really stuck on standard names like John or Jenny.  It surprised me when I said it he didn't tell me it was a stupid name.
  • We have been talking names lately. We are thinking Candace for a girl after my mom. We both say that girls names are so much easier than boys names. We were actually watching the credits to Grand Theft Auto and throwing out names we saw on that. We still didn't come up with anything solid though.

  • we picked out our future son's name years ago.  We were seriously maybe 19 when we decided our son would be named Lennon (Lenny for short).

We never agreed on a girl's name until my grandma passed away last January.  She was born in Montana and used to always sing that song 'my home's in Montana.'  I suggested it to H and figured he wouldn't like it, but he loved it.  So, our future children will be Lennon and Montana.  I also LOVE the name Jolene for a second girl, but H hates it (he associates it with the Dolly Parton song, lol)

  • Ugh, we have absolutely no idea on names.  I have a few that I really love that H says maybe to. I hope I can get him on board.

  • H has already decided the boy would be named after him, so the son would be the 3rd in the family line. He jokes that we would call him 3. We discussed a few names for girls but we haven't firmed up any names we plan on using.

  • I def want the girl name to end with -ana because my name ends with -ana. And for the boy still doing up in the air.

  • I think we will continue the boy name theme if I it's a girl (my name is Evan and my mom's name is Kyle, eg), and for a boy I always used to love Gabriel but it does not go with my last name now at all!  I guess it's back to the drawing board!

    @Seipel12 that is exciting news!

  • We were TTC earlier this year but put it on hold until next year.  We picked out Grayson for a boy and I really like Arya for a girl.  We also decided on Alexander for the boys middle name but have no clue for the girls middle name.  We are really hoping for a boy because H has two daughters from his previous marriage.  Their names are Ava Elaina and Isla Sophia.

  • We decided awhile ago that if we had a boy, he would be Daniel James after both his grandfathers. Not many ideas for a girl's name yet. I kind of like Deanna, but I'm not sure H is sold on it. But we're not even TTC yet, so I guess we have time to decide!

  • H gave me his 3 vetos: his exs name, Peyton and Cannon (which is now exs other son's name).

Other than that H doesn't care. I've recently liked George Everett after our dads. My dad is George and Everett is H's dad middle name. Hoping since they named the prince George it's not going to get popular.

I like Emily, Claire, julianna, for girls names, but so far my favorite is Eliza Mae.

  • We haven't really talked about it much.  I haven't really thought about it much either.  One afternoon while stuck in traffic, I actually thought about it for a little bit and thought Aubrey Kate would be an adorable name for a girl.  One of my good friends had texted me earlier to let me know she was on her way to the hospital.  They have boy/girl twins, and had two sets of names picked out.  They had not let anyone, even family, know anything about what they were thinking.  Later in the day, I get a text that Aubrey Kay had entered the world!  I guess Aubrey Kate is out of the running now!  LOL!  Weird that while she was giving birth is the only time I've ever decided to think about names... must have just been a mental connection at the moment or something :)

  • We have names picked out! We love the name Rylan Elora for a girl and Tyrion Devlon for a boy. What I like about Devlon is if we spell it Devlyn we can use it as a girls name too :-) We've had names picked out for a while even though we just started TTC !
  • We have a list of names that we like (mostly of Irish influence because that's what H gravitates towards), but nothing really definite yet. My best friend and I made a pact when we were 11/12-ish that we would name our daughters after each other. So, if we are blessed with a girl, I have to work Alicia in as a first or middle name. Otherwise, nothing has been decided.

500 Love Its 1000 Comments Second Anniversary Name Dropper

I've always loved Charlotte for a girl and Jack for a boy.  I don't know why, but I have always loved them.  Of course, H hates them both.  I have been willing to compromise on Jack, but Charlotte was non-negotiable.

Then, we got pregnant and really began thinking about names.  Our last name has 10 letters.  As a teacher, I cringe thinking of Charlotte 10 letter last name learning how to write her name.  It would take her months!  H really likes Olivia and I think it sounds pretty with our last name.  If we have a girl, she will be Olivia Charlotte.  We have never agreed on a boy's name.

ETA- I am not pregnant.  I meant when we got pregnant and I miscarried.

My nephew was the 3rd and they call him Trei (more traditionally spelled Tre or Trey. Since tres is 3 in spanish, it's just dropping the s.) Just a thought! :)

  • @ystaalenburg Grayson is the name we have picked out for a boy as well!! Gray is a family name of mine, it was a great-grandmother or great-great aunt (I never met either, so I'm not sure...Gray and Stina went hand in hand when mentioned) and it's my brother's middle name. Our property, which is where we got married, is Gray Acres. For some reason I've been really attached to James being the middle name for our son, when we have him.

For a girl I really like the name Sadie Mae/May (I can't decide which spelling I prefer). H isn't 100% on this name, but I think it's growing on him. I like that it isn't really really out there, but it isn't something you hear a lot.

My H is Trey. It is his legal name, because his mother did not want to give him his father's name (it is pretty awful). So, they compromised and named him Trey.

  • Baby boy (due 2/17) will be Caleb Adam.

The girl name we picked was Catherine Edith.
  • @mana8503 yes!! We both fell in love with the name, just wish it wasn't from such a main character. We also loved Khalesi but if we used it we would spell it Calesi (nickname Callie).
