What do you do for protein?

So in reading several weeks of Mommy and Mommy 2-B Mondays, I see that meat is something that is grossing a lot of us out.  What are you doing for protein, if you're not eating meat?

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Re: What do you do for protein?

  • Peanut butter is good either on crackers or apples. You can try a protein bar if needed too. Other than that nuts are a good source of protein too.

  • I lived on almonds :) a family member of mine had a huge aversion to meat and couldn't keep nuts down either. Her doctor suggested chia seeds that you can buy at health food stores and GNC

  • I haven't had much of an issue eating meat, but I do drink protein shakes in the morning...although I'm getting nauseas in the am now so I think i'm going to need more substance
  • I eat a lot of peanut butter throughout the week, but I'm also not having meat aversions currently. If that starts I'll start eating beans, cheeses and other nut butters.

I eat a lot of eggs. Luckily, I was not one of those who had an aversion to eggs, and in the first trimester, I was eating like four eggs a day (two scrambled for breakfast - which I still eat almost every day - and two hard-boiled for an afternoon snack). Other than that, I ate a lot of peanut butter and protein bars when I couldn't stomach much meat. Now, I'm pretty much able to eat anything I want, so it's not a huge problem anymore.

ETA: Oh, and cheese. I <3 cheese.
