Trying not to worry

I'm pretty sure this is normal, but for the past few days, I've been mostly feeling rolls and light taps. Not the jabs and hard pokes I felt for weeks before this. Is she just running out of room? I know I'm only 28 weeks, but I'm pretty short, so could she possibly be running out of room faster than someone who was taller? When I do my kick counts, I always get to 10 movements well within 10-20 minutes, so I know she's moving around in there, but... Ugh, I hate PgAL brain...

Re: Trying not to worry

  • I did notice the movements changed around the time. I would say as Lin as you are feeling movement that is good. You can always call your OB to double check.

  • I agree with what cinderin said. I felt movements change around that time too. The rolls were my LO crossing her ankles I think (I saw it once on u/s.) I'm glad you are still feeling movements!

  • Totally running out of room. I felt changes around the same time and I have no waist and I'm petite, so he ran out of space early too. As long as you are feeling movement, try not to worry.

  • Thanks, ladies! I just hadn't felt her much this morning and was trying not to worry too much about it. Of course, as soon as I posted this, she woke up from her nap and has been moving non-stop. Aaaaand... now she has the hiccups.

LOL. Thanks for calming me down and confirming that she is probably running out of room in there (or will be soon).

  • As long as your kick counts are good, I wouldn't worry too much.  Some days movements are subtle and others you get beat up from the inside out.  A call to your OB if you're worried is perfectly acceptable.

  • Completely normal. It's amazing how quickly they run out of space.

  • Definitely normal. A few weeks ago my doctor mentioned that he gets irritated by the term "kick" because he thinks it makes mom's worry if movement isn't a poke or jab. He said as long as LO was "wiggling" regularly we are good. Sounds like you have a wiggler right now!

  • S flipped around then and her movements changed dramatically. They do run out of room and although you are 28w, she is pretty big already. From here on, I think she will just continue to put on weight but most of her growth is complete. No need to be concerned. She is moving!
