Good ole Facebook (pr, obvs not me)

edited October 2013 in Getting Pregnant
A friend of mine commented on a post (from someone I know but not friends with) going off about breastfeeding, so it showed up in my facebook feed. Her main "point" was that BFing isnt as healthy as FFing because the baby gets whatever you get, unhealthy food, habits, etc. Right... but aren't most people who are BFing fairly healthy anyways? It made for an interesting read this afternoon, that's for sure.

And then I had a FB blindside. The lady who married us announced they are having a baby. I am sad for R and I,  but she had a loss 11 years ago. They totally deserve this, and I am totally excited for her. My first thought was that I hope this is her take home baby. In her announcement post, she said something about a breastfeeding surrogate. Has anyone ever heard of this?

ETA- I just reread the post, they are adopting! and that was supposed to be breast milk surrogate.

  • I'm sorry that you were blindsided but that sounds like a really exciting development for your friend.

And I guess BF can be bad for the baby if the mom does crack or something. But yea, not sure Id want her as my nurse.

  • Oh gotta love the ole Bfing vs FFing debate. I choose not to ever get in those debates because I was attacked verbally by a few people when I had my daughter because I chose to FF. For the record, I FF my baby and she is the healthiest kid I know, and she makes honor roll every single 9 weeks, so she's pretty dang smart too. I think you have to go with what you feel best doing. I had my reasons and I'm still happy with my choice, so I'd say I did the right thing. I really hate when mothers try to judge and make other mothers feel like they're doing the "wrong" thing bc it's hard enough being a mom without all that judgement.
