Girls getaway ideas

A friend of mine from college is going through a divorce. I thought it would be good to have a few friends from our college days (30 yrs ago) get together for a girls getaway. Given that we are older I am not interested in rowdy places like Vegas or New Orleans. I am thinking more beach or wineries or ... Preferably someplace warm that is good for long weekend. I think we all live in places with SW airline service (Chicago, Nashville, Houston) so I was seriously considering those destinations. Suggestions? TIA

  • Are you planning for soon, or will it be next year?  I'm from Mystic, CT which is a great destination, but obviously getting cold up there now.  But it's wonderful in the summer.  Lots to do, including beaches.  Wineries, restaurants, history, 2 casinos....

  • I know you said no New Orleans but its one of my Favorite cities. I think its rowdy if you make it rowdy.

  • I agree with @starlettedir.  We don't live far from New Orleans.  It's not so bad during the day though.  I'm not into the drinking or partying either.  Grab some café au lait and beignets at Café du Monde and then explore the French Quarter.  It doesn't have to be rowdy.  There are museums worth seeing and I always enjoy the aquarium.  The market is fun as well.  If you do want to grab some cocktails, it's usually not that bad during the day as long as it's not Mardi Gras.  And you can always go to the spa and get pampered!  Just steer clear of Bourbon at night if you're not into the party scene.

  • Consider a trip down to the Cape or Martha's Vineyard for a weekend getaway. There are plenty of things to do as well as see and there are plenty of quaint towns to just sit back, relax and enjoy the weekend. Check out the MassVacation website for more - http://www.massvacation.com
