After being in our house for two years, I am finally getting to decorate our living area. Right now it's a sea of beige and brown and just plain boring! Our couches are a chocolate brown and we have a beige shag rug, so pretty much a blank canvas. I found these pillows at World Market the other day and fell in love with the colors and style. I want to make some curtains for our living room, kitchen and dining, but I don't want them all to be the same. It's one large open area so they need to blend well.
I don't have a current picture of the living area, but here's one from when we first bought the house. DISCLAIMER - the walls are not green! In fact, nothing is the same except the layout. We now have espresso hard wood floors throughout, new kitchen cabinets, and painted the walls a neutral color.
So, as you can see, I need to cover three sets of windows. I'd like to do full drapes on the bay window in the dining area and in the living room. Then there is also a patio door in the dining area that I'd like to do a roman shade for. Lastly, there's a window over the kitchen sink that I'd like to have a valance on. I've picked out three different fabrics and I still need one more. What do you think of these three for the kitchen and dining areas? If I use these there, I'll need to find something for the living area.
Re: Whacha think?
This! I love it! Can you do my house?!
If we ever find a house, I will pay for your ticket to NY to come decorate my house. I am plain and boring and I don't think H has any sort of design opinion whatsoever.
My apartment had 2 brown rooms when I first painted. I was dating this guy when I first moved into my apartment. We broke up and I felt that him knowing what my bedroom looked like was wrong. So I painted it from brown to a grayish purple and got a bed frame. H does like our bedroom color and asked if when we move we can paint it the same color. I was happy about that because I love the color.
Now that I think of it, all of my walls are sort of neutral. The kitchen is a sage green, living room is brown, bedroom is grayish purple and the bathroom is gray. I need color in my life! Even my couch is tan...
I have a red accent wall in our living room, I LOVE IT!! On our mantel I have black and white pictures on it and it really pops. H was scared but he liked it after it dried (I looked like magenta with the first coat).
