The Raven Boys - Plot Points (Spoilers)

I read the last bit of The Raven Boys super quickly and I cannot recall details of Adam's sacrifice. I remember Whelk and Noah, but I can't remember how Adam got the way he is and how the ley line was opened.

I'm reading The Dream Thieves and since this is a major concept in Adam's storyline, I'm trying to remember.
Help?

Re: The Raven Boys - Plot Points (Spoilers)

  • Basically Adam sacrificed doing things his own way. He also said he would be Cabeswater's hands and eyes.

  • I'm trying to grasp that because it seems like from what I just read in TDT, Adam is recanting that and wants to do things his way.

  • Beyond what @j*&p* said, I think it might be a "keep reading" thing.  I was a little confused, but I think her comment makes a little more sense later in the book.

  • The same questions has been in my head the last couple of days as I'm reading The Dream Thieves, too.  Thanks for asking!
  • Yup, same questions here, too. Glad I'm not the only one. I just thought I forgot something.

  • oh boy. This post just made me realize that I forget 99% of what happened in Raven Boys. I'm so bad for that.

  • I think it's because there was no obvious physical sacrifice by Adam, along with the fact that getting out of his parents house, under any circumstances, is better for him than staying there.  it doesn't seem like as much of a sacrifice when you think of it that way.  The acting on behalf of Cabeswater is maybe a different thing, though.

Some people have said that they didn't have a very clear understanding of what was going on half the time in The Raven Boys, and while I was okay with that one, I feel like I'm not always sure what's going on in TDT.  The part I'm at now is about 2/3 through (I don't want to say more than that and risk spoiling anything), so I'm pretty sure things are about to start getting real as the book wraps up.  Hopefully it'll all start to make more sense now.

Either way, I'm loving this book because Ronan plays such a bigger role.  I like Ronan way better in print than on audiobook, too.  I disliked the way the audiobook narrator did his voice.

Oh, and this?  I'm never going to remember everything whenever the next book comes out.  I just read Raven Boys about 2 weeks ago, so it's mostly all still fresh in my head as I'm reading TDT, but there's no way I'll remember by the time the next one comes out.
