  • I've lost 5 pounds since finding out I was pregnant.  I know it's only because I'm no longer drinking lots of booze. Maybe I should've tried that a long time ago, and I would've gotten to my goal weight.

  • If driver manager doesn't stop being a jerk, I'm going to tell him off.

Not sure if this is because of hormones, lack of sleep, or he really is being a jerk and deserves it.

  • @teacherlady79 I bet every person on this board can say that they've felt this way at some point and time.

Just take it one step at a time. Sit down and put together a budget for your household, and see how much you spend in each category for the next couple of months (gas, groceries, eating out, etc). Then add in your daycare costs and baby expenses, and see what is left over to be able to afford for a new vehicle.  There is nothing wrong with purchasing a used family friendly vehicle, and having a low payment.

We are still trying to get over this point too.  H's vehicle is 2 door, and we tried to fit our friends' car seat back there last week. Yeah, only fit if I put the passenger seat up really far. So we know that his car isn't going to be baby friendly.  But when we looked at a 4 door car on Monday I almost had an anxiety attack thinking about the payment, taking money out of our savings to put down on it, and it being a lesser quality vehicle than H's current car. I had to step out of the dealership and collect myself.

Oh another one. My SIL told my BF that she's planning on keeping everything she has for her baby (due next month) for me for mine.

First, her baby will only be 7 months so I'm pretty sure she'll still need it.

Plus, since she lives at MILs I don't find anything wrong with her keeping the stuff there for when my child is there, but I would like my own at my house.

I have no problem with used, but I'd rather have my own things that I don't have to return so I can save them in case we have another child.

ETA: One more that I don't feel like making ANOTHER post for.

H's hours are being changed that he'll be working from 5pm to 5am. I'm going to miss having dinner with him, but I eat so much healthier when H isn't home because I'm easier to please.

  • @teacherlady79  You definitely aren't alone!  I started worrying the other day too.  We are having a house built and will have to get another car.  And still pay my loans.  And I don't have insurance until Jan!  It's scary!  But I know it will all work out for all of us :-)

  • @teacherlady79 not sure if you have a coupe or sedan but I think as long as your car is still pretty reliable, you'll be fine. we had a corolla and it was just fine. we upgraded cuz it was starting to leak gas and we found out about #2 otherwise, my little car did its job. but I totally get those moments of being overwhelmed. you're not alone.

  • I have two.

    1. My pup was being a brat last night. We had just came in from taking her out to use the bathroom and when I took off her leash she started running like a crazy lady. I had to grab her and yell at her. Now I feel really guilty :(

    2. I've been eating a lot of sweets and I can't stop :( I'm thinking of going to a nutritionist. I was at my pre pregnancy weight at my 2 week pp appointment and I'm scared I'm going to weigh much more at my 6 week pp appointment.
  • @teacherlady: even if it is a two door you will be fine for a couple of months. i had a two door civic and drove it until LO was almost three months old without any issues. the car seat fit fine and the seat flipped forward enough to get the seat in and out. it really wasn't an issue. DH didn't fit as well in the car, but he didn't drive all that often since it was my car. we used the money we got from aflac for the l&d hospitalization as a down payment on a new car. we waited until the last week of december to negotiate on a 2012. but if the end of the year had been a bit further away i probably could have driven LO in that car for another two months before he started to get too heavy. and really, we didn't start leaving the car seat in the car until about 5.5-6 months. so you have time to save and prepare. i really think it's stupid when people start ditching their cars while pregnant unless a car seat legit will not fit in it. and i still find that hard to believe. just because one kind of car seat doesn't fit doesn't mean a different brand won't. we had a graco snugride, fwiw. try not to worry.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • Mine.....I'm debating transferring a client of mine to another therapist because I literally rage inside listening to them talk about how they abuse government assistance. This probably goes hand in hand with UO's but I HATE our current regulations for assistance when people like this can completely abuse it.

I'm nervous about moving to our new town and neighborhood because it's so picture perfect. I'm talking jogging stroller moms and hot air balloons on the horizon. I'm worried DH and I won't fit in because he isn't super outgoing and I'm not a pinterest mom.

  • @saralynn7. I live in pretty much the same type of area and I'm the type that embraces the darker side of things. I was a pinterest mom last year and it was phucking exhausting so eff that noise. but trust me...once you start talking to these "soccer/pinterest" moms, you'll notice they have a lot more skeletons in their closet than you ever thought.

  • I've lost 4 lbs this pregnancy, and still feel like a whale.  The U/S confirmed (and feeling around my belly) that what we are seeing is bump and that I am carrying high, but I still feel fat.  And it doesn't help that the ONLY things that sound anywhere near appetizing right now are pasta dishes and milk chocolate.

  • Mine are along the lines of @teacherlady79

I really really wanted another baby so that DS would have a sibling close in age, something that DD never had. I'm super happy and excited. But very worried about the doubling of daycare, increase in insurance costs and the fact that my car is on it's last legs with leaking oil, needs a couple expensive new parts and my mechanic basically said after I was already pregnant (yet not that it would change anything), just drive it don't fix it but plan on watching for a new car.

    Lesson learned!!

  • We had to pay for daycare for two
kids for the first time today and we almost had a mild panic attack. That shit is expensive. I really wish my parents would just retire and move out here already so they can watch my kids. I know it's selfish but I'd much rather pay them and know the kids are getting their full attention. But then I think that daycare has been great for DD as far as interacting with others and all she's learned there. Plus she loves it, so I'm torn.

  • @bobcee There is a definite upside to grandparents watching their grand kids. That is the attention and time and maybe some financial savings.

However I am a huge advocate for starting them at preschool early if they are not in daycare. They learn much needed social skills & coping skills that they do not get with grandparents. When I had DD I put her in preschool at 2 years because she had been with my mom for the first 2 years. She was overly shy, needy and clingy and really strayed from people, especially men. Even my mom said when she started pre-school the change in her was so noticeable that she said it was the best thing for her even if it was hard for her to admit.
