I have been saying the weirdest things.

I'm not supposed to swear at work (obviously) and every year I seem to come up with interesting substitutes.  Last year I said "aye yai yai" a lot (side note - no idea if that's how it should be spelled).  This year I've been using "geez Louise" and...wait for it..."holy moly cannoli."  Really?  Where did I get that?  I'm pretty sure I made it up.  And the scary thing is I've used it in real life already (that's how you know it's really going to stick).

Anyone else have an interesting expletive substitute to share?

Re: I have been saying the weirdest things.

  • I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I know I've had some good ones at work. Mine is more names that I call the kids instead of saying the awful things I'm thinking in my head.

  • I unfortunately usually just say the word...although I am able to turn off my bad language when needed (work, around children, in public settings).  Too bad when I'm at home or with those I'm comfortable with the bad language just flows.  Wish I had some good pretend words to say instead...would probably be a little more classy!

  • Ummm swearing is my worst habit. I've tried to curb it around the kids, but sometimes it just blurts out.

  • When I'm at work, I find myself saying "cheese and crackers'.  Dorky, I know.

  • Yeah we are sailors in our house. I said something the other day and DH looked at my mom as told her what a classy lady I was. She told him I never cursed like that until I got together with him. He blamed his friends. LOL!

Fortunatly, Chase has never uttered a single curse in my presence. He gets all bugged out when his friends curse. They are kids and are trying out new "bad words", but nope, not my kid. He will steal flowers from someone elses yard to give me, but wont say a single curse word.

My next ones first word will be fuck. I can see it already.

  • I'm reading a book, FaeFever, and the girl and her sister made up words to replace cusses.  The most used is petunia for ass.  I forget some of the other ones.

I'm good about filtering around kids... I have to yell at Jeff when we have the kids to watch his mouth.

I love that kid. He soo reminds me of Chase at that age. M is going to be the kid at school that every single staff member and student knows by name. Chase has been like that at his school since kindergarten. We walk into school and a random 8th grader give him a high five. Blessing and a curse.
  • I said damn the other night and I'm pretty sure M tried to repeat it. Oops!

  • I saw fudgesicle a lot instead of f*ck.

That's sort of what "holy moly cannoli" is.  Well, I guess I should type "holy moly, cannoli!" instead.  In my head I'm thinking, 'What the fuck, you little asshat!'
  • Are you all judging me now for admitting that I think some of my students are asshats?
  • I have the worst potty mouth! Apparently I need to stop soon!

Uhh no way. That is minor and totally appropriate considering what some kids do. Now when you have a family member tell you how fucking stupid everyone of their students is every time you ask how that person is,  that might be reason to judge.

I give more kudos to teachers than I do any other profession. Teachers have a special place in heaven IMO.
