A few questions...

I am probably going to have a lot of newb questions the next few weeks but you ladies are the only ones who know my big news!

1. What can I take for heartburn? I was taking Zantac twice a day for acid reflux but not sure if I should continue that (will ask the doctor at my appointment next week). I tried not taking it last night and woke up in the middle of the night with horrible heartburn.

2. When did you start feeling pregnant and noticing body changes? I know I am not far along at all and that it is different for everyone but I don't feel much different than before!

3. I know this has been asked before but when did you have your first ultrasound? I assume I may have one relatively early because of my irregular cycles.

Thanks ladies!

Re: A few questions...

  • 1. I usually take knockoff Nexium, but have discontinued until my Dr visit. For now I've been taking Tums.

    2. I'm not very far along so I don't have much to this. But the biggest thing I've noticed so far are my boobs growing. I went from a B to a D in pretty much a week.

    3. My first ultrasound is at 9 weeks. My OB normally only does one around week 20, but since we went through Clomid he wants to do one at my first appointment.

  • 1. Tums, I know my doctor also said Pepsid is ok.

    2. Biggest thing I felt early was cramps. I still get them. H has commented on my boobs growing.

    3. My first u/s was suppose to be at 1 day short of 9 weeks, but the ultrasound tech said I was only measuring at 6 weeks 1 day. So I am rescheduled for next week at 8 weeks exactly. Unless it changes again which I keep making jokes about to H.

I don't see in your siggy anything about clomid or any kind of treatment like that so my guess would be your u/s will be 8 weeks.

    1. not sure, sorry!

    2. my first u/s was at 5 weeks 3 days. but i've been seeing a RE so they get you in there quickly.

    3. i'm about 8 weeks now and my boobs have slowly gotten bigger, but after like 6.5 weeks they were really big, like how do I hide my boobs. I noticed at 7 weeks I have to eat breakfast the second I wake up or it takes a lot time for the nausea to go away. and i'm bloated some days, others its OK. oh yes and cramping! I had lots of cramping at first but that has subsided in the past week. I still feel cramping occasionally.

  • I had my first u/s around 7 weeks.  I have been lucky and never had to deal with morning sickness or anything like that.  Mainly, I just have felt tired all the time starting around week 6 I think.

  • 1. What can I take for heartburn?   Not sure.  I've yet to have any heartburn.  Sorry.

    2. When did you start feeling pregnant and noticing body changes? I still don't "feel" pg.  And by that, I mean, it's still not real to me.  As for body changes, my boobs felt different the day after my BFP (4w).  If you squeeze them, they still have the same sandbag-like texture.  DH said they grew.  I don't agree.  I had some slight cramping and twinges until about 6w.  I started getting all-day everyday nausea at 7w3d.  That has finally started to subside in the last couple weeks.  Constipation and bloat was bad while taking Zofran for the nausea.  Since stopping that, I'm back to normal.  I definitely have a little bump going on right now, but if you didn't know me, you'd think I was bloated or had a lot of water to drink.

    3. I know this has been asked before but when did you have your first ultrasound? I had my first at 5w5d and a follow up at 6w6d because I was seeing an RE.  EDD was changed at 2nd ultrasound since LO was measuring 6 days ahead.  I didn't have another u/s until my NT scan at 13w3d.  My next isn't until 18w2d for my a/s.

  • 1. Tums- towards the end of my pregnancy I lived with a jar of tums in my purse.

    2. In the first trimester mt boobs grew 2 sizes. (It was awesome but now they are back to normal size :( ) I also had morning sickness since my BFP, M/S didn't go away until I gave birth. Emotionally I don't think I realized I was pregnant until I felt her move.

    3. My first ultrasound was at 8 weeks I believe.. That one was transabdominal and I went to the ER at 4 weeks because I had bad pain in my stomach and had a transvaginal ultrasound.
  • 1. my doc also green lighted zantac but I usually just take tums. one tablet usually does the trick.

    2. pregnancy definitely is on a case by case basis. first time was pretty breezy with slight nausea peaking at 8/9 weeks. this time m/s starting week 5 until 13. but something that has been consistent is the cramping and tiredness.

    3. first appts have been schedule around 8/9 weeks along with u/s to confirm pregnancy is in the right place and growing.

    congrats!

  • 1.  Tums!  They will become your friend!

    2. My boobs hurt a lot at the beginning and I just had mild cramping.

    3. I had my first u/s at 6w2d.  Everything at theat point looked good and we saw that hb, but because it was so early on they had me come back in a week later just to make sure everything was on track.

  • 1. My doctor actually approved for me to take Zantac as needed throughout my pregnancy. It has been a life saver the past few weeks :)

    2. This sounds so weird. About 4 days before I got my BFP, we were vacationing in OBX and I told my DH that my belly button looked different. He looked at me like I had two heads! I was 7 weeks at that point. My boobs went from a B to a C+ (I say that because depending on the brand I'm in between C and D) by 9 weeks, along with severe exhaustion and nausea all day, everyday. I started showing (visible to me and those that knew me) by 12 weeks.

    3. My first u/s was 7w5d because I was having spotting and cramping.

  • 1. Zantac should be completely fine. I took it twice daily toward the end of my pregnancy.

    2. My boobs hurt immediately and were usually my only symptom until 5.5-6 weeks when the exhaustion and nausea kicked in, but every body and every pregnancy is different.

    3. With my first pregnancy I wouldn't have gotten one until 12 weeks, I think, but I had spotting so I had it earlier. With my second and third pregnancies I had ultrasounds at 6-7 weeks, but only because I had losses and my OB was trying to provide me reassurance during first tri.

  • Thanks for all the insight, ladies! I will probably find out on Wednesday when I go to my confirmation appointment when they want to schedule me for a ultrasound. I am hoping it is soon because I don't think it will seem real to me that I am pregnant until I see evidence!

  • My dr said I could take Pepcid but I've mostly stuck with Tums

I started feeling pregnant about 6 wks when the m/s made it's appearance. With DS I looked pg about 15 wks. This time I feel like I've looked pg since about 10-11wks

I had my first u/s at my first pn appointment at 9wks

  • I had answers typed there... I swear.

    1. Tums
    2. I didn't really look pregnant until recently, but I felt pregnant between 15-17 weeks.
    3. 8 weeks, it was transvaginal.

  • Zantac extra strength 1x day. Then it got bad and I needed it 2x day. Then that wasn't working and the dr RX'd something plus maloxx. Basically you can take your acid reflux meds. Tums did nothing for me. My reflux was so bad it was like having m/s all over again.

Nothin really should feel different right now. The pee stick is barely dry. I got sick at 6w1d and that lasted a long time. I started weekly pictures at 13w but it wasn't really anything but my same pudgy self. Around 16-19w I started looking more pregnant and less like I was just fat.

  • @nightmare_of_beauty, this pregnancy was natural. We were talking about starting Clomid on the next cycle. We're both relieved that we don't have to go that route just yet because we were nervous about it.

  • 1) I have been taking the CVS softchew antacids.  They're not chalky and they do the trick!

    2) I am carrying high, but the first time I saw what might be a bump was 11 weeks, and it depended on what shirt I was wearing.  It wasn't until this week where I feel like I see the bump no matter what shirt I wear.

    3) I was 7w0d but I could have had it a week earlier.  DH was away so I waited.
