So today we're telling my parents. I know it's super early to be letting the cat out of the bag but I don't have any secrets from my parents and my mom is also a nurse so I feel like she will be helpful if I have any questions about things. Plus I know they won't go posting all over social media or telling everyone before we're ready to tell the rest of the world.
I'm nervous because I have bad memories of when I was younger. My brother got his girlfriend pregnant when they were both 18 and I still remember the dinner time conversation when my brother told them he was going to be a dad. I know we are in a totally different place and my parents know that we've been trying so hopefully they will be happy for us.
How we are telling them: I got a cute Halloween card last night that on the inside says, "to the sweetest and neatest grandparents--you two!" I signed it from Baby N. They will be here this afternoon because we're going to dinner and a concert tonight. Eek! Wish us luck!
Update: The reveal went well. We were really nervous the whole time before they showed up. Then I gave them the card and my dad opened it first. He didn't really react (he's the kind of person that doesn't really show emotions that much). His eyes got red though so I think he was trying to keep himself from crying. It's the whole daddy's little girl is growing up thing...yeah. My mom read the card then and she was like, "Are you pregnant? Oh my gosh!" and she cried and hugged me. She was very happy and excited. Later when they left my dad said, "Congratulations" and he hugged me and said, "I told you God would take care of you" (He had a conversation with me a few weeks ago about not wanting me to take Clomid).
So all in all it went really well. Now we've decided to wait until closer to the holidays to tell DH's family and the rest of the world. He's dying to tell his parents and grandparents but I know they won't be able to keep it a secret. We're aiming for Thanksgiving if we are able to have an appointment and ultrasound before then. Guess I will find that out this week when I go to my confirmation appointment!
