Overnight Diapers

Just curious what you all put your kids in at night time. We still aren't sleeping through the night (shoot me), however Andrew only wakes up once to eat now. We don't like to change his diaper because it fully wakes him up and then sometimes it takes forever to get him back to sleep. He's been wearing pampers, which we really like but there have been a few nights now where he wakes up completely soaked - diaper, clothes and sheets. We also have Target's Up and Up diapers and he soaked through them too, although they weren't night time diapers (not sure if Target makes night time? The Dude bought them so I wasn't there to see what the selection was).

Thanks!

Re: Overnight Diapers

  • J is a pisser so we cannot use her cloth. We use up and up in a size up (3). I found (4) from 7th gen worked well too. They make overnight specific diapers that we used on milo until he night trained.
  • Ok so maybe thats our problem. He's in a size 2 diaper and maybe we need to move him to 3s. I have a few that people gave us so I'll try those this week and see how that goes!

  • Definetly might be the size so try that first. We just went through the same thing with Size 2 versus 3. little guy weighs 17 lbs 8oz now but is only 25 inches long. I also just purchased Pampers Cruisers and find they keep little guy a bit dryer than the Swaddlers.

  • I was oblivious with DD1 and never even thought of overnight diapers but man could I have used them! We started using them with DD2 and have never had a nighttime leaking incidence since, so Id highly recommend trying them out.

I have used many brands and they all seem to work just as well as the next. However, we use 7th Generation "regular" diapers so I bought the same size in their overnight option and they are HUGE. I have been waiting for months for her to grow into them and they are still too big. Very strange.

  • we use the pampers overnights.  He peed out of every diaper overnight except for those!

  • thanks, girls! I think we'll go buy the overnights and see how that works out. In the meantime, I have some size 3 diapers so until I get to the store, I'll try them tonight.

  • I think you'll find different things work for everyone. We've always had the best luck with Pampers Swaddlers. Was so happy when they came out with size 4s!

  • We never differentiated between day or night diapers. Once the kid hit size 3, we switched to up and up (target brand) with zero issues.
  • Graeme has been leaking at night, too. I'm thinking he's ready for size 3 diapers (he's only 17 pounds so he's on the upper end of the size 2 diaper limit).

  • PS: we use up & up diapers. They're just so inexpensive compared to Pampers!

We tried them... E hated them for some reason so we had to stick with Pampers.... this kid is going to be the death of our bank account, he only likes expensive things haha

Andrew is 17 lbs too. So I'm thinking he's boarder line. We used a size 3 last night with no leaks!

Colin on the other hand is 12.5 lbs and still in a size 1! ha.

  • The quality of Target diapers has really gone down since we last used them with Oliver. The tabs keep falling off if you pull them too tight. I'm giving them another try (just going up a size) before I break down and buy pampers.

  • For what it's worth, the South Philly Target has had cases of Pampers on clearance for the past few weeks now. I picked up a 96 count pack of Size 3 Cruisers last night for 17 bucks. I'm not sure if other Targets have the same deal.

  • I had a 2 year love affair with Huggies overnights. We tried many brands but those worked best for us.

  • Larrysdarling- you have a daughter right? I'm just curious because everyone I know that likes huggies had a girl... my son peed out of them every time even during the day and I've heard that from a lot of moms with boys!

Interesting. We tried huggies too and I HATE them. C peed through them no matter what time of day it was. Thats the brand CHOP uses too and every nurse would complain about them.

  • Yeah I have a girl. I hated Huggies daytime but had the best luck with their night times.

  • We too had the same issue with Huggies, especially the newborn size with the cord cutout.

  • I've heard that luvs work well for boys and huggies for girls. I have no input on this rumor.

I've heard great things about Luvs.  Our NICU was pampers and they seemed to work well so we stuck with them other than the huggies we were given and the up & up that we tried.  Oh well, I'm almost at a free tricycle with all the pampers points so I might as well stick with them now!

  • We use Pampers overnights and have never had a problem (Danica is almost 2.5). I've tried Up and Up a few times and like what someone said above... the tabs would fall off and I was throwing out so many brand new, unused diapers. I've also tried Huggies and we did not like them at all. Danica leaked through those so what everyone said above about Huggies working for girls didn't apply to us I guess. I don't bother trying to find something cheaper anymore at this point. Pampers work perfect for us so I'm not trying to fix what isn't broke anymore.
