Bag ladies

What do you use to transport your "stuff" to work and what kind of "stuff" do you cart around on a daily basis?  I'm tiring of my current tote/shoulder bag and wonder what the cool kids are using these days.

Re: Bag ladies

  • I highly doubt I qualify as a cool kid, but here goes.  I have a purse that hold most of my stuff (wallet, Kindle, blackberry, etc).  When I take my lunch I have a insulated lunch bag.

When we go to the gym, we go after getting home from work, so I don't have to carry around any of that kind of stuff.

  • Ditto NFP. I have a large tote-style purse with both shorter handles and a long shoulder strap. If I'm bringing all my food for the day, I have a semi-insulated lunch tote my MIL bought for me a year or two ago.

My work bag always has: travel coffee mug, wallet, Kindle, mini wallet/train pass sleeve (for easy display of my pass to the conductors), a couple of lip products, my work badge, pack of gum, car keys, cell phone. I don't always bring/wear sun glasses, since I don't have a prescription pair. I can stuff a pair of heels into my bag if I really want to wear a certain pair that day (I walk a few blocks from the train to my office building, and most of my heels aren't terribly friendly for that walk!). It's about time for me to retire this bag and find a new one; the interior lining is completely ripping away at the back.

I have another large tote bag for when I do liquor promos. It carries my timesheet folder and the heels I need to wear for the promo, then when I get changed I can stuff my street clothes and shoes in there. Sometimes I'll have a bottle of hairspray and/or lotion in there, too.

  • For my work bag, I have this UCA bag I got when I took my cheerleaders to UCA camp this summer. It's pretty large and has two compartments. I always have my laptop, planner, aspirin, vitamins, snacks, classroom keys, makeup bag, and other random stuff in it.

  • The only time I ever use a purse is for work, so mine is a coach bag that's big enough to carry all my crap - the usual stuff that women carry (cell, keys, wallet, sun glasses, lip gloss, etc.), plus some papers for work, my lunch, and travel mug.
    imageimage
  • I could probably use a work bag but I generally just carry 3 bags into the office with me. my purse, my thermal lunch box, and my workout bag. I also always have a nalgene and/or a cup of tea in hand.

and if i'm bringing a book or a book on tape into the office I just stuff them into my purse.

  • I guess my idea of what people carry is swayed because I work at a college.  There are a lot of backpacks, messenger bags, etc.

  • I carry my tote, lunch bag and purse daily. I have a collapsible rolling crate that I use sometimes if I have a lot to carry. I'm a teacher that travels multiple buildings sometimes so I have to do what I can! I have even brought a small suitcase with wheels to carry recorders from building to building!

  • I have a mobile office, and switch back and forth between 2 locations. So I carry a lot of crap with me on a daily basis.

My regular purse is the Miche large bag. I have my large planner in there, personal/TS stuff to work on if it gets slow in the office, and my usual wallet, chapstick, lotion, etc.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Then I also carry a laptop bag that is huge, and that has all of my work stuff in it. It's like this one.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Now I also have a messenger/laptop bag that I use when I go to conferences or travel. It's similar to this one, and it is probably my favorite bag. I might be retiring the large laptop bag soon, and switching to this one.

Then I also carry in my thermal tote with my lunch in it, a workout bag if I choose to go for a run that day, and another bag and rolling tote with all of my TS stuff in it if I have a party that night.  It looks like I'm moving out of our house every morning.

  • I'm a student, so on the days I go to class I either have my tote (if I just need my laptop) or my backpack that holds books. I also have my purse. I'd love to get a nice messenger bag, but I'll hold off until I see what type of job I get after grad school.

Ugh I know. I haven't had any luck finding one, and I've been searching for a few years now. My shoulders just hate me for carrying all of these bags on them, and I was thinking a backpack would be a little less stress on my shoulders.

  • Unfortunately, I'm the bag lady sometimes (when I bring my lunch to work).

I carry my personal items in my purse. I can fit my iPad in there, but I will put it in my market bag if I am carrying that. For the most part, I carry student work, pens, highlighters, a calculator, and my grade book (binder).
