Has anyone gotten acupuncture for pain? Where did you go?

I have a shoulder issue that I normally get a cortisone shot for about once a year.  I hate that I have to get that shot but there is no viable surgery for the condition I have.  Anyways, it's only been 5 months since my last shot and the pain is back.  I've heard that acupuncture can work for pain.  Has anyone had this done?  Did it help the pain?  Could anyone recommend a place?  The last thing I want to do is end up at a shady place to get needles stuck into my arm.

Re: Has anyone gotten acupuncture for pain? Where did you go?

  • I have had accupuncture done but for infertility, not for pain. It was a good experience (I'd gone twice for a few weeks each time).  If you are near WExford, there is a place right off of I-79 in the Franklin Park plaza with the Eat N Park and Eikon hair salon... WExford massage and accupuncture I think it's called. I also went to a place in the north hills on Rt 19 in McCandless if that is any closer. I'll have to dig around for their name as they've moved.

PS -Accupuncture works very well for back pain! And don't be surprised if you get needles in places other than your shoulder. Just go with the flow! Good luck!
