Charting Question

Do you think your body being cold when you take your temp could affect the actual temp reading? I think I o’ed on Sunday and if I bump my temp up from this morning up by less than .2 degrees it gives me my cross hairs. I got a low temp, positive OPK with EWCM and the whole nine on Sunday. Then it jumped way up Monday and Tuesday then dropped again this morning. But I woke up totally uncovered in thin leggings freezing my ass off this morning so I wasn’t sure if it would make a difference. My temp was 97.20 and if I bump it to 97.35 it gives cross hairs.

Re: Charting Question

  • I don't think that effects your temperature, but if you slept with your mouth open at all it could.  Maybe you'll have an elevated temp tomorrow and it'll give you CH's then. GL!

Mouth open will do it...same thing happened to me this morning.  My temp dipped from 36.35 to 35.88 (I'm in Canada, so celcius) from yesterday to today so likely my mouth had been open since that is crazy low for me.  If tomorrow and the day after your temp stays up without getting crosshairs, you can discard today and see if that gives you crosshairs.

But if you always sleep with your mouth open, there would be no difference. Your temp would always reflect that.

Looney is right. If it's always, it wouldn't make a difference, only if it was rare.

Either way, hope you get you CH's!

  • Yeah, if you temp orally, breathing through your mouth really affects it. I temped my first month orally my temps were so wacky. lol. I switched to temping vaginally and now everything is a lot more nice and stable looking. Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!

    My Ovulation Chart!

Wife to a wonderful man, who wants to be a daddy as much as I want to be a mommy. Hopefuly soon! <3
  • There's a second surge of estrogen (i believe) after ovulation. I always get the temp drop for 2 days after a day or two of high temps after O. It's normal :) read it in TCOYF

  • oh... point of second surge of estrogen is that it causes temp to drop. sorry i forgot that part.
