Car Seat - Safety Question
So DH was in an accident last night and we're thinking that his car is totaled. He is OK .... thank goodness!!
My question though is about the base for our car seat. All of the damage to the car was in the front, nothing on the sides. I'd rather be safe than sorry to get the car seat base inspected to make sure there was no damage to it and that we can still use it. It's just the base, not the carrier. Where would I begin to look for that? Would local fire departments be able to tell if it was still safe to use or do I have to go somewhere else for something like that?

When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.

To make you feel my love.
Glad he is okay! I would suggest talking to the insurance company about it. In most cases, there will be an issue with the safety of the base, even if you can't see any issues with it. IMO would definitely have it replaced. The insurance company should pay for it though.
I would just replace it personally. Glad your husband is ok! Scary!
Now on to car shopping ...
So sorry about the car accident, but happy to hear your DH is okay.
I work in insurance, and you can usually file any part of the car seat as part of the claim. I've never seen an insurance company decline replacing one (even just the base). So it's worth a shot to see if they would replace it as part of the claim.
Good luck car shopping.
