Fashion advice... Shower related.

So I bought a black dress to wear to my showers plus to my husband's work Christmas party. I also bought black maternity tights and thought I'd wear my black knee high heeled boots. However, that's a lot of black! Thinking about buying a fun infinity scarf for a pop of color or perhaps some fun colored flats... Thoughts? I'm so not a fashionista.

  • If you are going to wear tights, I would stick with boots, not coloured flats.  Are you able to find coloured maternity tights? That would be fun.  Otherwise a coloured infinity scarf would be a good option, or a long statement necklace.  Have fun at all the showers/parties!

What about doing a colored belt?  Then maybe do a scarf or bulky colored jewelry to match.

ETA: You could even do a colored cardigan over it (not sure how cold it is by you). Then also add some jewelry to match the cardi.

  • I'm in central Iowa so it's plenty chilly! I tried for colored tights but couldn't find any. I'll have to look for some fun accessories. I'm just terrible at fashion stuff. One of the perks of being a nurse... I just have to wear scrubs!

  • I don't mind the all black.  You could wear a colored jeweled toned necklace in purple, blue, etc.  Definitely no flats - either boots or pumps.  If you do pumps, you can do a funky pair like leopard or purple suede.  If you do do black boots, I would wear nude stockings not black tights.

  • I don't know about other people but I wore a pair of heels to our company Christmas party when I was roughly 24 weeks and it was an awful idea. My feet swelled up for the first time and I didn't sleep at all for like 3 nights because of the awful charlie horses that happened so I banned heels from that point forward. But I know some people do just fine and wear them all the way through.

I do not have any problem with tights with flats and I do it all the time :)
