Jogging Strollers

I know I should post this over on TB in order to get more reponses, but that place is scary. So I'm asking you ladies first.

Does anyone know anything about jogging strollers or can you recommend one?

My mom is adamant that she is going to buy me a jogging stroller to use from day 1 till the child is 3. She's asked me just about every day since 6 weeks, which one I want. Heck if I know! So I've been trying to do some research on them, and there aren't enough reviews for me to be able to make a sound decision.

I would love one that I could snap the infant carrier into and use for walks in the first few months. Then transition and use for jogging once the baby is able to handle it, and I'm up for running again.  I usually train for a half marathon once a year, and would like to get back into running afterward. So it will definitely get some use.  We have also discussed my mom taking care of baby during the day, and she runs 5 times a week also. So it would be used by both of us.

Is there one anyone can recommend, or that you know your friends use and love?  Or even one you have been looking at want/don't want and why.

Re: Jogging Strollers

  • We went with this one... We got the graco snugride 35 carseat. We "test drove" it a few times before adding it to our registry. I do not know how to make it clicky as I'm on an iPad. http://www.target.com/p/graco-fastaction-fold-jogger-click-connect-tangerine/-/A-14282306#prodSlot=medium_1_2

  • Yay it's clicky but sorry about the lack of paragraphs. The one thing I hate about this new format.

  • @fallbrideoct05 I'm so happy to see someone has that one and responded. That's the one I have added to my list of contenders because that's the carseat we've looked at and liked.

Do you use it for jogging and for everyday use?  We would love to be able to get away with just 1 stroller for both.

  • Well we are still cooking so I've only driven it in the store sans baby. But I can give you an update in January! (Not too helpful). We do plan on using this for exercise and our primary stroller at least at first until the kiddo can be in an umbrella stroller.

Obviously, this is my first... But from my experience nannying, I love the baby jogger brand. I registered for the city mini GT, which is not specifically for jogging, but I know they have a few high performance joggers to choose from too.

    ...hello out there!

  • I don't run so I can't help you, but I can say that "test driving" them at BRU or BBB is invaluable.  It was the only way for us to make a decision.  We did this for car seats too otherwise the research and books and reviews are so confusing!

  • @pinkinprovence If only BRU and BBB weren't 2 hours away from us.  H and I might be making a roadtrip into the Chicago suburbs after Christmas so we can test some out.

I'll be that chick running through the store pushing a stroller. lol.

  • We had a baby trend, and it served its purpose, but I wouldn't have used it to train for a half marathon. Actually, I didn't bring Cora with me once while I trained for my half. However, my SIL took up running and took it back. Since a new one isn't in the budget right now, we will probably eventually just get a used one from CL.

HOWEVER, if $ was not an object and someone was buying it for us, I would definitely go to a store and test drive them. I would take the infant seat that I liked, snap it into a few and make sure they were compatible to see what I liked.

  • I have a baby jogger summit x3. It is pricey but I love it. I just took E for a jog in it today. It has the same easy fold as all the baby joggers do, it's front wheel locks, it has an awesome huge sun shade for baby, and I am pretty sure they sell a car seat adapter bar for it too. I wouldn't want to use any jogger as my main day to day stroller though they are too big and heavy. Ours is mostly used for runs, walks in neighborhood, or walks on trails. I didn't get it until E was almost 6 months bc you aren't suppose to run with them until then. The stroller would be good in the beginning to get out for walks though.

  • We have a baby trend and I'vedone short runs but nothing like training for a half. Most people say 6-8 months before jogging but our pedi cleared us at 3 months as long as he was in the car seat with his head support in it. I love using a jogging stroller for day to day things too. It "drives" so much easier than the ones with the little 4 plastic wheels I think. Now that we're expecting #2 I'm looking at a double jogger but trying for used.

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!
  • I have BOB revolution and love it.  We also bought the Graco car seat adapter and Snugride 35 which we used in the stroller until about 5 months.  He is almost 2 and we use it all the time for walks, runs and trails.  Handles like a dream.

It's way too bulky and heavy for everyday usethough.  I bought a snap and go for when he was in the bucket car seat, and an Uppababy G-luxe umbrella for when he was too big to lug around in the snap and go.

  • @lindsayandjamie That was another one I put on my list too, but I had heard it's really bulky.  I have an SUV, so we wouldn't have a problem fitting it in the back of my vehicle. But H has a 2 door car, and his trunk space isn't very big. So we're afraid that won't fit in it.

  • I really don't know much about jogging strollers but I did just see that BOB recently came out with a jogging stroller travel system with a matching Britax car seat. Idk if that would be something you'd be interested in.

  • @brij2006 I find the BOB bulky and awkward to fold up.  It fits in our SUV fine, and does fold relatively flat but it is a two handed job.  I usually leave mine in my garage open and only fold it for camping or trips to the dog park

  • We have a BOB Revolution and it is easily one of my favorite baby items.  We used it as our everyday stroller with no issues (used with the carseat adaptor at first).  We also have a G-Luxe which is very compact, but the BOB gets used waaaay more often.
