WIJFR: Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking
A parent of one of my tenth grade students suggested that I read Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. I found it fascinating. The author suggests that as a society we ignore or try to change introverts to our detriment. Schools focus on group work and discussion; businesses have open floor plans. But introverts have been responsible for so much creativity and innovation.
As an introvert most of the time, I could really identify with a lot of the book. I love teaching, and can be gregarious in the classroom, but I am desperate for quiet, recharging time after work.
I'd recommend the book to any teachers or parents.
