Are you dressing up for Halloween?

I haven't dressed up for years but this year we're going to a party and I'm excited to be dressing up. It's a circus/carnival themed party and Shaun is going as a lion (I made him the best costume ever) and I'm going as a lion tamer. Ha.

The boys already went to a little Halloween party and we're going to trick or treat at the zoo on Saturday. Isaac really wanted to make him a tree so I made him a costume that somewhat resembles one but that he is THRILLED with and Jude has a little Batman costume that is hilarious.

What are your Halloween dress up plans?

  • I am not dressing up, but we are dressing up Liam as Popeye and taking him to a local Halloween Parade. He's going to be the cutest Popeye that ever existed.

  • We were invited to two parties this year one has a super hero super villain theme so I am thinking of just making some masks and then raiding our closets to be a superhero (MH) and super villain team that no one has ever hear of before.

  • Probably. My first thought was Fern from Charlotte's Web, but I don't know anymore. Rethinking.

Really, though, I'm a bit annoyed about having to work Halloween night. None of the other pages have kids or their kids are older/adult. So who gets scheduled to work? Yeah ME! The one with KIDS! I request a shift swap weeks ago and no one has accepted. Kinda makes me pissy.

  • Yep! We're having a costume contest at work (to help alleviate the mandatory OT we'll be on for the day). I'll be dressed as Effie Trinket.

I dressed up as Luna Lovegood this year but my dumb mac won't let me put a pic in. A bunch of friends dressed up as HP characters last weekend at a party we went to.

  • We're dressing A as Yoda, so DH and I wanted to go as Princess Leia and Han Solo, but didn't really want to go to all the trouble of making/buying those costumes.

So I'm going as a witch (boring, I know, but I actually haven't dressed up as a witch since I was 4) and DH isn't sure what he's going to do.  We're just going to take A to a few houses and then come back and pass out candy.

We are dressing up to give out candy. I am going to be a witch from Ravenclaw and DH is going to be Captain Kirk from Star Trek. I wore it last weekend too for a bday/costume party for DH-

  • I'm going as Marie Antoinette.  (Inspired after reading Madame Tussaud!)  I have the tall white wig but I didn't feel like buying the rest of the costume.  So, I gussied up one of my own dresses with the blue bows and flounces and my wedding gloves.  I think the effect will be good enough.  And I'll be painting a bloody mark across my throat.  :)

We are going to Highball Halloween tonight.  It's like a giant Halloween block party event.  There will probably be 30,000 people there.  The city shuts down a main street in town for the event.  Couture fashion show, DJ dance party, Drag Show, Costume contest... It will be crazy!!

Halloween is a BFD at work.  Every year there is a big decorating/costume contest.  This year's theme is "Era Fashion" so my department picked the 1920's & we are going to decorate like a Speakeasy.  I'll be a flapper.  Here is my costume (minus the pink wig):

  • I'm not dressing up, but Natalie is going to be a cupcake!  Her grandma came and made her costume today and every time Grandma tried to talk to Natalie, she burst into tears.

  • I'm not dressing up this year, but B is going to be a lion. His play group party is Tuesday, we're taking him to my parents and some friends houses on Thursday to trick or treat, and then we're going to my ILs on Friday.

My mom and I are spending all weekend making his costume. He's so small we basically have to make it up because none of the patterns were small enough.

  • Scrooge here too.  Not dressing up and not giving out candy.  Even to the kindergarten that is coming to my college to trick or treat.  I don't make enough money to buy my own candy to give out to an entire school worth of kindergarten kids.
