GTKY: Names

What is your middle name? When you got married did you keep your maiden name and drop your middle name or vise versa or did you keep both?

Re: GTKY: Names

  • Middle name is Patricia, my moms name. I kept it and dropped my maiden name completely. I have an older brother so loosing my maiden name wasn't that big of a deal for me since it will be carried on through him.

  • Michelle. I also kept both names by accident. The DMV guy never asked and just did both but it doesn't bother me however I was planning to drop my maiden name.
  • I don't have a middle name, and I dropped my maiden name completely. I debated using my maiden name as a middle name for a while but decided against it.

  • Elizabeth.

Not a family name, or at least my folks didn't know it was when they named me.  I dropped it completely, and made my maiden name my middle name, same as my mom.

  • Mine is Kay....supposedly after my grandma (dad's mom) and my one aunt has the same middle name too...

I used to not like it...but now with my grandma being gone...it kinda sits better with me :)    I don't ever see using it for any future daughters..but time will tell... My mom joked around about giving me the middle name Sue...so my initals would have been ASS growing up...lol....thank goodness she didn't haha

  • Elizabeth. I hyphenated my last name and kept my middle name. It's not a family name, my mom thought it went well with my first name. It was a popular middle name during my birth year.

  • Used to be Marie, now it is my maiden name. I have all sisters so this is the best I've got for carrying on my maiden name. And I have such a unique first name, it was weird to have such a common middle name. My mom hated it too, she said she felt pressured by my dad's side of the family to give me a Catholic middle name, and we aren't catholic, so she regretted giving in. Easy enough, it's gone now.

  • Mine was also Marie. I dropped it like a bad habit and moved my maiden name to my middle name. My maiden name is a common girls' first name.

  • My middle name is Mykelle (Mi-kel). When we got married I just added his name to mine. I kept my maiden name also because I was fond of it. My brother is the last of my dad's direct family to have the name so I felt strange letting it go.

  • My middle name is Diane. In Quebec we can't legally change our names. I use my husband's name socially but I will keep my maiden name for banking, healthcare, etc. Nothing to do with this post but @invane00 I haven't been on in a while and I just saw your gender reveal photo... Sooo freaking cute. Congrats!

  • Nicole.  I dropped my maiden name.  It isn't that common around here to keep your maiden name as a middle and I only know one person who has done it, so it wasn't even a thought for me.

  • My Middle name is Rachel. I had zero desire to keep my maiden name. I got teased for it growing up and I don't really have any relationship with my dad's side of the family so there was really to reason to keep it. Having said that I would like to use my grandmothers (on my mom's side) maiden name as a middle name for a child at some point (if we have more then 1).
